As a Sr. SQA Engineer at Permission.io, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our platform. You will work closely with our engineering, product, and operations teams to develop and execute test strategies, automate testing processes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products. This role requires a blend of strong technical expertise, a deep understanding of QA best practices, and a passion for delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Test Strategy & Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and testing strategies for new and existing features, ensuring alignment with product requirements and user needs.
• Automation: Design, implement, and maintain robust automated test suites—using Playwright (web) and Appium + WebdriverIO (mobile)—that cover both frontend and backend components of our platform, with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• AI Quality & Evaluations: Build and maintain evaluation pipelines for our AI and agentic features, using frameworks such as DeepEval or ADK evals to measure model quality, catch regressions, and validate non-deterministic behavior.
• Mobile Testing: Design and maintain end-to-end mobile test coverage (iOS and Android) for our React Native app, driving native and WebView flows through Appium + WebdriverIO.
• Data & Pipeline Validation: Verify data integrity across the database and scheduled data pipelines using SQL, confirming that events and activity are logged and processed correctly end-to-end.
• Manual Testing: Perform exploratory and manual testing where necessary to identify critical issues, particularly in areas that are difficult to automate.
• Defect Management & Triage: Take responsibility for triaging bugs in production, managing the bug/defect backlog in Jira (with Xray) in collaboration with the SCRUM Team, and ensuring that defects are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Proactive Quality Leadership: Take the initiative to drive quality improvements across the team, introduce best practices, and ensure that all QA processes are continually refined and optimized.
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle. Use open communication channels, and proactively arrange meetings with the SCRUM Team to gather necessary information.
• Self-Learning & Innovation: Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in QA and digital technologies, bringing fresh ideas and improvements to our processes.
• Performance & Security Testing: Lead initiatives to ensure the platform meets high standards of performance, scalability, and security, particularly within the context of Web3 technologies.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of our QA efforts.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality and collaboration across the engineering team.

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in QA engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role. Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
• Hands-on experience with Playwright (web automation) required; TypeScript proficiency.
• Mobile test automation with Appium + WebdriverIO (or comparable native mobile framework) for iOS and Android.
• Strong programming/scripting skills (JavaScript/TypeScript; Python a plus).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and processes (GitHub Actions).
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and backend testing (e.g., Swagger, Postman).
• SQL and database validation for verifying data integrity and data-pipeline correctness.
• Experience using AI for coding (AI-assisted development tools) to work faster and raise quality.
• Experience with AI evaluations for AI-driven and agentic applications—e.g., DeepEval or ADK evals—including an understanding of their unique testing challenges (data bias, ethical considerations, non-deterministic behavior).
• Familiarity with Web3 technologies and blockchain is a significant advantage.
• Tools & Environments:
• Hands-on experience with Xray and Jira for test management.
• Test reporting (e.g., Allure) and CI-integrated result notifications.
• Database tooling (e.g., DBeaver) for SQL-based data verification.
• Analytics/event validation (e.g., PostHog, GA4) and browser DevTools.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS a plus) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE).
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6) and security testing practices.
• Exposure to tools or methodologies for testing AI model performance, data integrity, and agentic interactions.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
