Job Description This is a remote position. A Senior Quality Engineer Who Owns Product Quality End-to-End TL;DR (because attention spans are real): We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to take full ownership of product quality across our hard-, soft-goods and electronics. Right now, quality issues are being handled reactively across design and product, slowing down progress and creating inconsistency with suppliers. This role exists to fix that. You will own product quality from development through post-launch, working directly with factories, identifying root causes, and ensuring every product meets a high and consistent standard. Your goal is simple: reduce defects, reduce returns, and make sure every product we ship is reliable, durable, and trusted by our customers. If you’ve worked on consumer hardware, solved real-world quality issues, and know how to hold suppliers accountable, we want to hear from you. Proficiency in English as a first language is essential for this role. Mandarin proficiency is required for supplier communication. Time zone: This is a hybrid role requiring visits to our factories in Asia (China, Vietnam and Cambodia) Salary: Negotiable Trial Period: All candidates will complete a paid trial assignment - more details below. ✔️ WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Post-launch quality ownership Own product quality after launch across all hard-, soft-goods and electronics Resolve recurring issues with connectivity, charging, pairing, and device stability Improve durability and reliability of existing products Investigate defects reported by Customer Success and identify root causes Lead corrective and preventive actions with suppliers, labs, and internal teams Review QC reports and make final shipment decisions when results are unclear or failed Approve first-batch production before products reach customers Pre-production and development Work closely with design and suppliers to ensure products are ready for manufacturing Review Tech Packs and QC standards to ensure they are clear, complete, and production-ready Assess prototypes and give final approval before mass production Act as the main technical point of contact for factories on quality standards and testing Ensure all documentation is aligned so suppliers have zero ambiguity Quality systems and future buildout Translate product design intent into durable, manufacturable solutions Define and run validation testing (e.g. stress, durability, washability) Set and evolve quality standards for new product categories Build and scale the quality function over time, including additional specialists or partners Requirements ✔️ WHO WE ACTUALLY NEED (and who we don’t) This is not for someone who: Wants a side hustle or is juggling freelance work. Focuses on reporting issues instead of solving root causes. Needs step-by-step direction instead of owning problems end-to-end. Has only worked in theory, documentation, or lab environments without real production exposure. This is however for someone who: Has 8+ years in Quality Engineering, Product Engineering, or similar roles in ecommerce companies, ideally between 20M and 100M in revenue. Has worked on real products that have gone to mass production and dealt with post-launch quality issues Has hands-on experience working directly with factories, especially in Asia Can identify failure points in both mechanical and electrical systems and solve them in the real world Has led root cause analysis and implemented corrective and preventive actions that actually reduced defects Is comfortable making go/no-go decisions before mass production Can review Tech Packs, QC standards, and test reports and spot issues early Holds suppliers accountable and knows how to push back when quality is not met Works closely with design and product to ensure ideas translate into durable, manufacturable products Understands how to balance speed, cost, and quality without compromising the end product Is highly detail-oriented and does not let small issues slip through Communicates clearly and drives alignment across teams and suppliers Thrives in a fast-moving, builder environment and takes full ownership of outcomes Is both strategic and hands-on, able to define standards and execute on them Benefits ✔️ WHAT YOU GET Bonus program - when we hit our objectives. Fully remote with async flexibility. Unlimited vacation and sick leave days. ✔️ WHAT WE BELIEVE (AKA: THE STUFF THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS) We’re not just building a company. We’re building a culture where great people can do their best work, without corporate nonsense. Here are the beliefs that drive everything we do: Office politics are destructive, small-minded, and evil. We foster cooperation, not competition. We believe in open, transparent communication. We show appreciation and gratitude every day. The best ideas win, not the loudest person in the room. If that makes you nod your head (or say “finally!”), you’ll fit right in. Want to go deeper?
