Employment Type: Full-Time (35-hour week) Duration: Continuing Remuneration: Level 7 from $113k + 17% superannuation and leave loading Location: Kensington NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working) Why your role matters The Senior Scholarly Information Resources Librarian plays a key role in the Library’s Collection Development and Policy Unit, supporting the effective acquisition and management of scholarly information resources. Working closely with the Manager, Scholarly Information Resources and the Associate Director, Collection Development Strategies & Policy, the position contributes to the Library’s reputation as a leader in best-practice collection services by overseeing critical processes across the scholarly publishing procurement lifecycle. The role is responsible for monitoring publisher performance, analysing emerging trends in scholarly publishing, and evaluating evolving business models, including open access publishing. It provides expert advice and clear communication on complex licensing and publishing arrangements to a diverse range of stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making across the University. The Senior Scholarly Information Resources Librarian also identifies opportunities to improve systems, automate processes and enhance workflows, generating valuable business intelligence and driving operational efficiency. Reporting to the Manager, Scholarly Information Resources, this position is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. What you will do Manage the ongoing evaluation of eBook purchase models developed using evidence-based and demand-driven profiles, and UNSW specific parameters. Monitor publisher performance and administer the Library's participation in journal and open access publisher agreements, including problem solving publisher workflows, reporting and eligibility and approval validation. Ensure acquisition procedures for scholarly publishing resources are in alignment with UNSW procurement requirements and in consultation with the Manager, Scholarly Information Resources. As part of the Collection Development and Policy Unit, facilitate use of emerging tools and technologies that optimise the Library’s collections and related services. Oversee the annual transition of scholarly journal titles between publishers or agents, ensuring internal Library stakeholders are proactively informed to minimise service interruptions and optimise the value of Library subscriptions. Communicate licence and publishing conditions clearly to stakeholders across the university, using a variety of communication channels. Ensure researcher‑facing guidance is consistent and linked to UNSW Library’s Open Access Publishing Guide. Serve as a point of support for financial and scholarly publishing resources procurement processing, maintaining accuracy and continuity of service during peak periods or staff absences. Represent the Library on external-facing and consortium working groups and communities of practice to advocate on behalf of UNSW Library. About You Relevant tertiary qualification with substantial relevant experience or any other equivalent combination of knowledge, training and/or experience. Comprehensive understanding of the complexity and emerging trends in collection development within academic publishing environment. Demonstrated experience in collecting, interpreting, and reporting complex information and data, especially as applied to collection development processes. Demonstrated current knowledge and understanding of the acquisition and management of the multiple information formats used at academic institutions. Understanding of intellectual property rights, copyright, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) and creative commons as it pertains to scholarly publishing. Knowledge of information and communications technologies as they intersect with collection development. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Experience in building positive stakeholder relationships and influencing decision-making as needed. · An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
