Senior Security Analyst

Location: Bloomingdale, IL

Work Model: Onsite 4 days per week, remote Fridays

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $150,000-$195,000 annually, based on experience

Schedule: Standard business hours with occasional after-hours support

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Security Analyst to join a growing cybersecurity team. This is a new headcount opportunity and an excellent fit for someone who enjoys hands-on threat detection, incident response, security implementation, and helping build out a maturing security function.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned cybersecurity professional who can be both a strong technical contributor and a mentor to junior team members. This person should be comfortable writing security playbooks, leading incident response efforts, improving detection capabilities, and partnering with IT and business stakeholders to strengthen enterprise security.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead hands-on threat detection, investigation, and response activities.
  • Serve as a technical lead during security incidents, including containment, investigation, remediation, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Write, improve, and maintain security playbooks, standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Design, implement, and enhance security controls across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Assess, monitor, prioritize, and report on vulnerabilities across the enterprise.
  • Research emerging threat actors, malware, TTPs, and indicators of compromise.
  • Analyze security metrics and trends to improve the organization's overall security posture.
  • Participate in vulnerability management, patch management, penetration testing, and remediation efforts.
  • Support digital forensic analysis when needed.
  • Partner with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and platform owners to identify and reduce security risk.
  • Evaluate emerging cybersecurity tools and recommend improvements.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior security and IT team members.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional after-hours support.

Required Qualifications

  • 9+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and security operations.
  • Experience writing security playbooks and supporting security process improvement.
  • Experience designing or implementing security controls, tools, or technical solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with security technologies such as:
  • SIEM
  • EDR
  • IDS/IPS
  • Firewalls
  • Secure web proxies
  • Network monitoring and analysis tools
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Network security
  • Vulnerability assessment and remediation
  • Patch management
  • Penetration testing concepts
  • On-premises and cloud security risks
  • Experience with MITRE ATT&CK, threat intelligence, attack simulation, or red team / blue team exercises.
  • Ability to manage multiple security tickets, priorities, and stakeholder communications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Must be local to the Bloomingdale, IL area or willing to self-relocate. Relocation assistance is not available.

Certifications

Certifications are preferred but not required. Relevant certifications include:

  • CISSP
  • CISM
  • CASP+
  • Security+
  • CySA+
  • GCIH
  • GCIA
  • GCFA
  • CEH

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will be a true cybersecurity “doer” who can investigate threats, improve detection capabilities, write playbooks, lead response efforts, and mentor others. This is not a purely strategic or management role. The team needs someone hands-on, practical, and seasoned enough to help mature the security program.

Company / Team Highlights

  • Growing security team with new investment in cybersecurity.
  • Opportunity to help build out tools, processes, and playbooks.
  • Mid-sized enterprise environment with multiple corporate offices, distribution centers, and a broad technology footprint.
  • Collaborative IT organization with a small security team where this person can make a visible impact.

Work Location & Logistics

  • Onsite Monday-Thursday in Bloomingdale, IL.
  • Remote on Fridays.
  • Local candidates strongly preferred.
  • No relocation assistance available.
  • Candidates should be prepared for a thorough interview process with multiple rounds.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range is $150,000-$195,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Additional benefits may include:

  • Performance bonus, historically around $4,000-$6,000 annually
  • 401(k) match
  • Healthcare coverage, with a significant portion of premiums covered by the company
  • Paid time off
  • Weekly payroll

Additional Requirements

This role requires authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

All offers are contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, which may include employment verification, education verification, reference checks, drug testing, criminal records checks, and certification verification where applicable.
