About the Role We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Research & Development team on a full-time 6 month contract basis, based from Liverpool with a hybrid working arrangement. You’ll be part of an experienced engineering team working across .NET, SQL Server and AWS to help evolve our Health & Safety platform. This is an opportunity to contribute to key strategic initiatives, including integrating one of our Health & Safety products with shared platform services such as authentication and identity capabilities, as well as MCP servers that enable AI-powered functionality. You’ll help address performance and scalability challenges, contribute to architectural improvements, and support the evolution of our platform towards a more modern, efficient and AI-enabled future. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions across frontend, backend and database layers. Work with distributed systems and APIs to ensure seamless integration between products and shared platform services. Contribute to the design and development of shared services, including authentication, identity and hierarchy management capabilities. Drive improvements in scalability, security and performance optimisation, including the responsible use of AI in software development and product innovation. Collaborate closely with Product Managers, QA, Platform, Cloud Operations and other stakeholders to understand problems and deliver high-impact solutions. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and mentoring to support team growth, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. What we're looking for: Strong experience in C# .NET Core or Framework, SQL Server and AWS. Solid understanding of API design, performance optimisation, data modelling and cloud-based architectures. Proficiency in unit testing, CI/CD and modern DevOps practices, with familiarity in scalability patterns and caching strategies. Experience integrating AI-driven features or using AI tools to improve development practices would be highly beneficial. 5+ years’ software engineering experience, ideally in a full-stack role, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges. A collaborative approach, excellent communication skills and confidence working with cross-functional engineering and product teams. A passion for building scalable, maintainable and well-architected solutions, with a proactive approach to learning and improvement.
