The Opportunity Stern Cohen LLP is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our modern and diverse public accounting firm. The Senior Tax Associate will work directly with two Tax Managers and two Tax Partners. The firm’s Tax Department provides tax advisory and tax planning services, handles complex tax filings (e.g. non-resident filings), and supports the rest of the firm. Unlike other firms, our Tax Department is not responsible for the entire firm's tax filings. We are an advisory- and tax-planning-driven tax department. Responsibilities Performing preliminary research into income and indirect tax issues; Preparation of complex and/or specialty tax returns (e.g. deceased returns, multi-jurisdictional filings, treaty-based tax returns, filings for non-residents); Completing a variety of specialty tax forms (e.g., T2057, T2054, T2062); Communicating with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of our clients; Preparing objections and voluntary disclosures; Analysis and completion of corporate, personal, partnership, and trust income tax returns; Year-end tax planning analysis; Attend weekly tax group meetings.
