Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Key Responsibilities This recruitment is open to current employees of the Business Taxes and Discovery/Sales section only. Principal Duties The Senior Tax Examiner will: Review and approve audits. Performs audits. Train staff on audit processes. Explain audit assessments, appeal procedures, penalty and interest computations to taxpayers. Represent the Business Taxes and Discovery Division in the appeals process. Help with compliance projects. Interpret tax laws, rules and policies The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this position is someone who: has working knowledge of the Utah State Tax Commission policies and procedures has working knowledge of Excel has excellent customer service skills has the ability to communicate effectively Qualifications Remote/Telework This position may be eligible for remote work. Salary Starting salary will follow DHRM rules on transfers or promotions. Preferences Preference may be given to tax examiners with experience in sales tax.
