Senior Unreal Engine Engineer This role is perfect for someone happy working in low level code, supporting our team as part of the "core" side of our Engineering department. Regular Full Time Remote Work From Home (within the US & Canada) Who We Are AdHoc Studio is a diverse team of video game developers driven by a pursuit of excellence in storytelling. Our DNA is made up of former employees of Telltale Games, Night School Studio and Ubisoft having written and directed such games as Tales From the Borderlands, The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, and Minecraft: Story Mode. We draw inspiration from all forms of media and pride ourselves on our distinctive approach to interactive narrative in games. Our goal is to create resonant experiences that put the player in charge of the story, giving them agency where most games take it away. Our first original title Dispatch was released in 2025. About the Role We are looking for a Senior UE Programmer to implement creative solutions to bring key systems to life. The Senior UE Programmer will be working in a close-knit, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate should be able to create and extend Unreal Engine plugins in C++. Responsibilities: Partner with team leads to execute on the design and gameplay vision. Collaborate with designers and other engineers to find creative methods of implementing core game systems. Implement underlying core game systems Design and implement effective workflows for authoring interactive narrative content in Unreal Engine. Write clear, maintainable, and scalable code. Research, define, extend, and maintain production pipelines, processes, and workflows. Required Experience: Excellent knowledge of modern C++ Strong understanding of Unreal Engine’s C++ runtime environment and gameplay architecture, and the interface with Blueprints. Generalist knowledge in many aspects of video game development with solid code architecture skills. Positive and self-driven attitude with the ability to participate in a collaborative environment. Self-motivated, capable of working in a remote environment. Contributed significant code to at least 1 shipped title. At least 5 years of professional experience as a programmer within the games industry. Preferable Experience: B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Shipped titles in the Unreal Engine. Experience working on current or last gen game consoles. Knowledge / experience video codecs and real-time playback / buffering Experience with at least one major UI toolkit: WinUI, WPF, SwiftUI, AppKit, WinForms, Jetpack Compose, Android Views, Qt, or similar. Experience implementing in-game UIs. Experience working with build systems Experience working in interactive narrative. Experience with interactive script tools.
