McGowin Tax LLC is seeking an experienced tax professional based in India to support the preparation of U.S. business tax returns. This role is suited for someone who can work independently, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly with a U.S.-based team.
The position will report directly to the firm’s owner and/or a senior tax manager.
· Prepare U.S. business tax returns, primarily Forms 1065, 1120-S, and 1120.
· Review client financial information and identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent items.
· Prepare clear, organized workpapers supporting the tax return.
· Make appropriate book-to-tax adjustments and maintain depreciation and fixed-asset schedules.
· Identify technical questions, unusual transactions, and potential tax issues for review.
· Respond clearly and promptly to review notes.
· Communicate work status, questions, and anticipated delays proactively.
· Assist with individual and international tax returns when experience permits.
· Five to seven years of hands-on U.S. business tax return preparation experience.
· Strong working knowledge of partnership, S corporation, and C corporation tax returns.
· Ability to take ownership of an assignment and complete it with limited supervision.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Clear spoken and written English communication.
· Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet filing deadlines.
· Reliable internet access and an appropriate professional home-office environment.
· Advanced English (C1)
· Experience preparing U.S. individual income tax returns.
· Exposure to international information reporting, including Forms 5471, 8865, 8858, or related filings.
· Experience working remotely with U.S. accounting or tax firms.
· Familiarity with professional tax preparation, document-management, and workflow software.
The position will require regular overlap with the U.S. business day for communication, training, and review. Full U.S. working hours are not required. The schedule may become more flexible as confidence, reliability, and a strong working relationship are established.
The ideal candidate is not simply a data-entry preparer. We are looking for someone who understands how business tax returns fit together, notices when information does not make sense, and is comfortable raising thoughtful questions. The person should be dependable, responsive, and interested in developing a long-term role with a growing U.S. tax firm.
