Job Family Group: Subsurface Group Job Description: About the Role Join one of the world's largest producing oil fields at a pivotal stage of growth. As Wellwork Manager within the Rumaila Operating Organisation, you will lead the planning and delivery of the annual well intervention programme that supports field production targets and long-term reservoir management objectives. Reporting to the Base Management Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing workover and rigless intervention plans, ensuring activities are safe, technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with the Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWPB). You will also lead and develop a team of nine wellwork engineers while working closely with subsurface, wells, and operations teams to maximise production and recovery across the field. Rumaila is undertaking a major development programme that is expected to increase the active well stock significantly over the coming decade, creating a unique opportunity to influence the future performance of a world-class asset. What You'll Do Lead the development and delivery of annual wellwork plans to support production, reservoir, and business objectives. Manage and prioritise a large portfolio of well intervention activities, including workovers and rigless operations. Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to a team of wellwork engineers. Partner with Reservoir, Production, Wells, and Operations teams to identify and mature intervention opportunities. Ensure all wellwork programmes meet safety, technical, operational, and commercial requirements. Oversee quality assurance for well intervention activities, working with service providers and Wells teams to maintain high delivery standards. Shape medium and long-term wellwork strategies, including resource forecasting and intervention planning. Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, data quality, and ways of working. Support the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, pilots, and digital solutions. Drive the digitisation and automation of wellwork processes to improve candidate selection and operational performance. Develop and mentor engineers, building technical capability within the organisation. Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across subsurface and wells functions. Experience & Qualifications Essential Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline. Strong experience in subsurface, production, or reservoir engineering roles. Significant experience in petroleum engineering, reservoir management, and well intervention planning and execution. Strong understanding of well intervention operations, including: Workovers Rigless interventions Electric line (E-line) Slickline Coiled tubing operation Experience working within waterflood developments and production optimisation programmes. Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams of engineering professionals. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across technical and operational functions. Proven ability to mentor and coach engineers at different career stages. Strong communication skills with experience working in diverse and multicultural environments. Commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence. Preferred Experience within large-scale brownfield or mature field developments. Knowledge of multiphase flow metering, surface surveillance systems, fluid sampling, and production data acquisition. Experience managing high-volume intervention portfolios and workover programmes. Exposure to digitalisation, automation, and data-driven optimisation initiatives. Experience supporting new technology trials and pilot projects. Proficiency in Power BI or similar data visualisation tools. Experience working within international joint ventures or complex operating organisations. Previous Middle East operating experience. ​ What You Will Work With You will work closely with subsurface, wells, operations, and project teams responsible for one of the world's largest producing oil fields. The role requires regular engagement with Iraqi engineers, field operations personnel, drilling and intervention teams, reservoir engineers, and technical specialists located both in Rumaila and at support centers in Sunbury.
