As a Senior Medical Writer within Acumetis Medical Affairs Strategy & Publications, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic scientific communication and publication initiatives for biopharmaceutical clients. This position requires the ability to translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear, accurate, and impactful communications while delivering the exceptional client service and strategic partnership that define the Acumetis approach. The ideal candidate combines deep scientific expertise, publication planning experience, strong project management skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, client-centered solutions across diverse therapeutic areas. Total rewards package for this role falls within $80,000 - $110,000 CAD per annum; the sum is inclusive of base pay and performance bonus. What You’ll Do Develop strategic medical affairs and scientific communication deliverables, including scientific communication platforms, publication plans, communication strategies, evidence generation plans, and medical affairs roadmaps. Author, edit, and critically review a wide range of scientific and medical communications, including peer-reviewed manuscripts, review articles, abstracts, congress presentations, posters, slide decks, advisory board materials, and medical education content. Partner with cross-functional teams, including medical strategists, publication managers, analysts, consultants, and clients, to ensure scientific accuracy, strategic alignment, and high-quality deliverables. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are consistently achieved. Conduct comprehensive literature reviews, competitive intelligence assessments, and evidence analyses to support publication and scientific communication strategies. Ensure all deliverables comply with applicable industry standards and best practices, including ICMJE, GPP, CONSORT, and client-specific publication policies. Contribute to publication planning and execution across the product lifecycle, supporting data dissemination strategies and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Provide mentorship, training, and scientific leadership to junior writers and Medical Affairs team members. Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by delivering responsive, "white glove" service and strategic recommendations that advance their medical affairs and publication objectives. What We’re Looking For Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, PharmD, or MSc required) Minimum of 5 years of medical writing, publication planning, or medical communications experience, preferably within a medical communications agency, consulting firm, CRO, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment. Demonstrated expertise in one or more therapeutic areas and the ability to rapidly develop knowledge in new scientific domains. Excellent scientific writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with a proven record of publication development. Experience with reference management software (e.g., EndNote) and publication management systems. Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, hybrid environment. Thorough understanding of publication ethics, authorship guidelines, and industry compliance requirements. Proven ability to build strong client relationships and deliver high-quality, strategic scientific communications.
