Dematic is seeking a Simulation Engineer to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI; Atlanta, GA; Plano, TX; or Milwaukee, WI, with a hybrid work schedule that combines on-site collaboration and remote flexibility. You'll help design the future of warehouse automation by developing discrete-event simulation models that validate automated material handling concepts before implementation. Partnering with Solution Engineers, Project Managers, Sales teams, and customers, you'll evaluate system performance, analyze operational data, and provide insights that drive solution design and customer decisions. You'll use simulation and 3D modeling tools, including AutoMod, to assess and optimize automated systems. You'll conduct simulation experiments, interpret results, and clearly communicate recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate has experience with simulation modeling, strong analytical and statistical skills, and proficiency in Python or another structured programming language. Experience with material handling, logistics, warehouse automation, AutoMod, Plant Simulation, or similar tools is highly valued. If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with data, and helping bring innovative automation solutions to life, we'd love to hear from you. We are unable to support Visa sponsorship or transfer for this role. We offer: What We Offer: Career Development Competitive Compensation and Benefits Pay Transparency Global Opportunities Learn More Here: https://www.dematic.com/en-us/about/careers/what-we-offer/ Dematic provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills. Tasks and Qualifications: What You Will Do in This Role: Develop discrete-event simulation models to evaluate the performance of material-handling and automated systems. Support pre-sales and delivery activities by crafting low- to high-fidelity simulation models and conducting performance analysis. Collaborate with engineering, sales, project management, and other partners to define requirements, scope, and timelines. Collect, validate, and analyze data while detailing model assumptions and functional specifications. Configure, complete, and lead simulation scenarios, experiments, and statistical runs. Interpret simulation outputs and clearly communicate results to internal teams and customers. Contribute to customer-facing presentations and technical reviews to support solution recommendations. Deliver assigned tasks on schedule, meeting quality and budget expectations. Explain technical concepts in a clear and accessible way for both technical and non-technical audiences. Exercise good judgment when working with customer, confidential, or proprietary information. Support continuous improvement of simulation tools, standards, processes, and methodologies. What We're Looking For: Solid understanding of discrete-event simulation concepts, methods, and standard processes. Ability to apply statistical and quantitative analysis to simulation problems. Experience with material-handling systems, logistics, or automated solutions (preferred). Proficiency in at least one structured programming language (e.g., Python). Experience with simulation tools such as Plant Simulation (AutoMod experience is a plus). Familiarity with AutoCAD or 3D modeling tools is helpful. Demonstrated ability to learn new tools, technologies, and methods. Strong understanding of simulation modeling principles and approaches. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. Proven experience in simulation model development, system modeling, or performance analysis. Typical experience range: 2–5+ years, depending on role level and validated capability. #LI-JR1
