About the Role As a Site Reliability Engineer at Tyro, you’ll help build and maintain the reliable, secure and scalable foundations that our products depend on. You’ll work hands-on across cloud infrastructure, automation, observability and operational tooling, partnering closely with engineering teams to improve how we build, deploy and operate our applications. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful technical challenges while learning from experienced engineers and contributing to how our platform and engineering practices evolve. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, reducing operational friction and making systems better through automation. Due to the nature of our work and regulatory requirements, applicants must hold Australian or New Zealand Citizenship. What you'll do Cloud Infrastructure: Build, maintain and improve scalable, secure cloud infrastructure across AWS. Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and GitOps practices, helping make changes consistent, repeatable and reliable. Monitoring & Observability: Monitor platform health through metrics, logging and alerting, and help improve the signals our teams use to understand system behaviour. Automation: Identify repetitive operational work and automate it to reduce manual effort, improve consistency and lower operational risk. Reliability Engineering: Partner with engineering teams to improve the reliability, performance and security of new and existing applications. Platform Improvements: Contribute to tooling, platform capabilities and developer experience initiatives that make it easier for teams to build and operate software. Operational Readiness: Support capacity planning, disaster recovery and operational readiness activities to help keep our platforms resilient as they scale. Documentation & Standards: Develop and maintain runbooks, operational documentation and engineering standards that help teams respond confidently and consistently. Troubleshooting: Investigate infrastructure and application issues, working with other engineers to understand root causes and implement lasting improvements. Continuous Improvement: Bring ideas to the team, learn from incidents and help evolve our engineering practices, tooling and ways of working. What you'll bring 3+ years’ experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Systems Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering or a similar technical role. Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or GCP. Experience with AWS is particularly relevant to our environment. Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and an understanding of why repeatable, automated infrastructure matters. Familiarity with Linux environments and container technologies such as Docker. Exposure to Kubernetes is a bonus. Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus or similar tools. You look for opportunities to remove repetitive work, improve processes and solve operational problems through automation. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to work methodically through complex technical issues.
