Summary The Small Engine Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing small engines used in outdoor power equipment, such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, and snow blowers. This role includes diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine service, and providing support to customers both in person and through remote or virtual consultations. The technician advises customers on necessary repairs or maintenance, ensures that equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications, and maintains detailed service documentation to support both in-shop and virtual service interactions. Compensation ranges from $37,440 to $62,400 per year, based on experience and availability. Job Specifics Diagnose mechanical issues in small engine-powered equipment (e.g., lawnmowers, chainsaws, snow blowers). Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug inspections, and carburettor cleanings. Repair or replace faulty components such as belts, spark plugs, and fuel systems. Provide customers with clear explanations of necessary repairs and maintenance recommendations.
