Snowflake Developer (with dbt) – Migration Programme

Our client is embarking on a major transformation programme to migrate their enterprise data warehouse from Teradata to Snowflake. As part of this initiative, they are looking for an experienced Snowflake Developer with strong dbt expertise to support the build‑out of the new cloud‑based data platform.

The role will work closely with Enterprise and Solution Architects, Data Engineers, and reporting teams to design, develop, and optimise Snowflake‑native data models and dbt pipelines that will replace the existing Teradata‑based structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Snowflake‑native data models, schemas, views, and stored procedures aligned to the new cloud architecture.
• Build and maintain dbt models, transformations, tests, and documentation to support the migration from Teradata.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure ingestion pipelines and upstream data flows align with dbt/Snowflake modelling standards.
• Optimise Snowflake performance (query tuning, clustering, micro‑partitioning, warehouse sizing).
• Support reconciliation, validation, and testing of migrated datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency with legacy outputs.
• Work alongside architects to define best practices for Snowflake and dbt development within the wider programme.
• Contribute to the design of reusable, scalable, and maintainable ELT patterns in Snowflake.

Required Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience developing in Snowflake (SQL, stored procedures, performance optimisation, modelling).
• Solid experience with dbt (models, tests, documentation, macros).
• Background in enterprise data warehouse environments; Teradata experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Experience working in large‑scale migration or modernisation programmes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders.
