Position Summary: The Intern position offers a collaborative environment at Brighter Tomorrow Community Services, fostering partnerships with educational institutions to provide students with valuable field experience aligned with their chosen area of study. This opportunity supports our mission and involves direct service with clients as well as administrative duties. Interns are responsible for timely completion of required documentation, maintaining ethical standards, and upholding confidentiality. They must complete background checks, fingerprinting, orientation, and essential trainings. Responsibilities: As an Intern, you will: Gain valuable insight and practical experience within various clinical and non-clinical settings in the mental health field. Acquire hands-on knowledge of community mental health agency operations. Participate in professional development opportunities, including attending relevant training sessions. Establish meaningful professional relationships and expand your network. Develop expertise in: Managing serious mental illnesses and related case management techniques. Advocating for consumers' rights. Navigating local community resources and service delivery systems. Documenting client records and utilizing software tools. Qualifications: To excel in this role, you should have: Enrollment in an accredited university/college program. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal abilities. Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential matters. Flexibility and a reliable teamwork attitude. Proficiency in time management and task prioritization. Access to reliable transportation during the internship. Successful completion of Brighter Tomorrow Community Services' New Hire Orientation. Successful clearance of background checks including BCI and FBI. Core Responsibilities: You will be responsible for: Safeguarding client treatment records and maintaining confidentiality. Applying evidence-based approaches to mental health care. Adhering to organizational policies, ethical standards, and professional codes. Participating in job shadowing, observation, and learning technical skills. Efficiently communicating with team members and clients. Regularly liaising with your assigned supervisor. Providing information about agency services and referrals. Maintaining comprehensive and aligned documentation. Assisting with administrative tasks and reports. Adapting to new approaches and safety protocols. Engaging in interdisciplinary staff meetings and trainings. Physical Demands: This role may involve: Clear communication through seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing. Occasional physical tasks such as reaching, stooping, kneeling. Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds. Driving a motor vehicle regularly.
