Software Developer Central Bristol (hybrid) 🚀 The Giant Minds of Software We're a bespoke software development house with brilliant talent, proudly based in central Bristol. Working across different sectors and with the latest technology, we deliver exceptional software engineering through high-quality bespoke projects, helping technically ambitious companies meet their business goals. 📍 Central Bristol, hybrid | 💰 £50,000 to £60,000 + 8% non-contributory pension + profit share | The role: We’re looking for a talented developer who’s ready to make a significant impact. This is an opportunity to own meaningful parts of real projects, work on end-to-end systems, be embedded within client dev teams and shape both technical and business outcomes. You’ll apply your craft across back-end, front-end, cloud, and mobile; you’ll have the autonomy to design and implement solutions, even when no clear pattern exists. You think commercially, always considering cost, value, client satisfaction and user impact. You'll build high-quality software for a real mix of clients. No two projects are the same: one might be a web-based HR system, the next a platform syncing prices across hundreds of vet practices. You can see some of what we've built at https://www.ghyston.com/work . Your day-to-day: Designing and building maintainable software across client projects, owning meaningful pieces yourself Getting deeply involved in code and system reviews - guiding and mentoring others (if senior), and constructively contributing as a peer (if mid-level) Writing your own tests, reviewing your teammates' code and keeping standards high Getting up to speed quickly on unfamiliar codebases and business domains Talking directly to clients when something needs resolving Using AI and modern tooling well, to lift both the quality and the pace of what you ship Helping the developers around you get better, and learning from everyone you work with How we work: Projects run in an Agile way, with a Project Manager, Product Owner and Tech Lead working alongside the developers, plus our QA and Design teams. We're an in-person Bristol team, and once you're settled you can work from home around two days a week. Ideas for doing things better are welcome from anyone, at any level. You should apply if: You have a background in full-stack software development (several years’ experience or demonstrable equivalent) with a track record of owning meaningful components of a system, with minimal supervision. You have depth in at least one primary stack among C# and .NET, Java and the JVM, or React and TypeScript, enough for peers to treat you as a go-to expert. You've owned real chunks of a system, not just individual tickets You pick up new tech and new domains quickly You're happy picking up the phone to a client when something needs resolving You're genuinely interested in using AI to work smarter What's in it for you: An 8% non-contributory pension and profit share A flexible approach to hybrid working and hours Generous holiday, plus a company holiday and a personal morale budget Group income protection, life assurance and wellbeing support Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave Electric vehicle scheme, plus cycle to work and discounted bus fares A real investment in your growth, with dedicated learning and development time A relaxed central Bristol office with a stocked drinks fridge, snacks and a pool table Everyone's welcome to apply. We're committed to building a team where everyone can thrive, whatever your background. If you've got the skill and the curiosity for this one, we'd love to hear from you. Even if you don't tick every box, tell us why you'd be a great fit.
