Architect and implement robust integrations between Jambonz and Twilio, including SIP trunking, Elastic SIP Trunking, number provisioning, inbound/outbound call routing, and media bridging. Build and enhance chatbot and conversational AI experiences that combine voice and text channels. Develop and optimize AI prompt engineering strategies for voice agents and chatbots, including system prompts, few-shot examples, tool use, latency/quality trade-offs, and guardrails. Integrate speech services such as Deepgram, Google, AWS, and other providers into the telephony stack. Collaborate with Product and AI teams to ship reliable, low-latency voice agents and multi-channel chatbot solutions. Write clean, well-tested, production-grade code. Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and on-call support as needed. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize call quality, latency, and system reliability across the telephony and AI layers. Contribute to documentation, best practices, and internal tooling around voice AI infrastructure. Qualifications Required Proven expertise with Jambonz, including building applications, carriers/SIP trunks, media control, webhooks/WebSockets, and REST APIs. Strong experience integrating Twilio, including Programmable Voice, SIP, Elastic SIP Trunking, webhooks, and SDKs. Hands-on experience building chatbots or conversational interfaces for voice and/or text. Solid knowledge of AI prompt engineering for LLMs and voice agents, including prompt design, evaluation, iteration, and safety. Proficiency in at least one of the following: Node.js, Python, or similar backend languages commonly used with these platforms. Strong understanding of SIP, WebRTC concepts, real-time media, and webhook-driven architectures. Experience with REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and cloud infrastructure, with AWS preferred. Someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems across telephony and AI systems. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work through complex distributed systems. A collaborative team player who can work closely with Product and AI teams. Strong attention to detail and commitment to production-quality code. A continuous learner who stays current with emerging voice and AI technologies. Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits. 401(k) with company match. Paid time off and company holidays. Ongoing training, professional development, and career growth opportunities. Flexible remote/hybrid work environment with a supportive and collaborative culture. Why Join Better Car People? At Better Car People, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge Voice AI systems and build high-quality conversational experiences that support the automotive industry. You'll have strong engineering ownership while collaborating with Product and AI teams in a fast-moving, innovative environment.
