About the Role As a Software Engineering Manager for ROI Delivery, you will lead a team responsible for the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of one of Datavant's most business-critical platforms. ROI Delivery powers important healthcare workflows that enable providers to securely and efficiently fulfil medical record requests across the United States. This role goes beyond building new features. You will lead a team responsible for services end-to-end, balancing the delivery of new capabilities with operational excellence, production support, and continuous improvement. You will partner closely with Product, Operations, Customer Success, and Support teams to ensure our systems remain reliable, effective, and responsive to customer needs. We are looking for a leader who enjoys solving complex operational challenges, supports teams through growth and change, and is passionate about building collaborative engineering teams that deliver excellent outcomes for customers. What You Will Do • Lead and support a team responsible for the design, delivery, reliability, and ongoing operation of ROI Delivery systems. • Coach, mentor, and support engineers through regular feedback, career development, and technical guidance. • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. • Guide the delivery of new platform capabilities while helping balance technical debt reduction, operational improvements, and customer needs. • Support incident response efforts, including triage, stakeholder coordination, root cause analysis, remediation planning, and post-incident reviews. • Serve as a senior technical resource during high-severity production and customer-impacting issues. • Partner with Product, Operations, Customer Success, and Support teams to investigate and resolve complex customer challenges. • Establish and continuously improve operational practices, including observability, monitoring, alerting, runbooks, service ownership, and on-call readiness. • Lead cross-functional investigations spanning applications, databases, integrations, infrastructure, and business processes. • Identify recurring operational challenges and prioritise engineering investments that improve system stability, scalability, maintainability, and supportability. • Define and improve operational metrics, including availability, reliability, incident volume, and mean time to resolution (MTTR). • Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape team priorities, technical strategy, and long-term platform investments. What You Need to Succeed • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading engineering teams responsible for both software delivery and production operations. • Experience guiding teams through complex production incidents and supporting effective root cause analysis and long-term improvements. • Strong technical background across distributed systems, databases, integrations, and cloud-based applications. • Experience managing incident response processes and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders during customer-impacting events. • Ability to assess production issues effectively, communicate clearly during complex situations, and help teams work toward resolution. • Experience improving operational metrics such as availability, reliability, MTTR, and incident reduction. • Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, alerting, service ownership, and operational support practices. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to engineering teams, business stakeholders, executives, and customer-facing teams. • Experience balancing feature delivery, technical debt reduction, operational improvements, and long-term platform investments. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with healthcare data workflows, document delivery platforms, records management systems, or healthcare interoperability solutions. • Experience supporting customer-facing, business-critical platforms in regulated environments. • Experience working across both legacy systems and modern cloud-native architectures. • Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams. • Familiarity with reliability engineering, SRE practices, and modern operational excellence frameworks.
