About The Role:
QA Engineer
Location: Remote UK or Ireland (occasional office visits may be required)
Start: ASAP
Sponsorship: Not available
We're looking for a mid-level QA Engineer to help us maintain the reliability, performance, and integrity of our API and browser-based applications. You'll work closely with developers and other members of the business to identify issues before they reach production, investigate root causes when things go wrong, and help maintain a culture of quality across the business.
This role suits someone with a genuinely investigative mindset — someone who doesn't just find issues, but wants to understand why they happen, trace them back through systems and data, and help prevent recurrence.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Design and execute exploratory tests for our products based on requirements.
• Investigate defects and anomalies across API endpoints, tracing issues through logs, databases, and system behaviour to root cause.
• Communicate findings, risks, and quality status clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prioritise and organise testing efforts across multiple concurrent workstreams, adapting quickly as priorities shift.
• Working closely with developers and other business functions, not siloed in a separate QA function.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of QA processes, tooling, and standards.
• Support performance and load testing activities where required.
• Where applicable, contribute to or maintain bespoke automated test suites.
What You’ll Bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex problems and interpret data and system behaviour accurately.
• An investigative mindset — comfortable digging into logs, data, and systems to find root causes, not just symptoms.
• Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple test efforts, priorities, and deadlines accordingly.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to varied audiences.
• Hands-on experience testing REST and SOAP APIs, including request/response validation, status codes, authentication, and edge-case behaviour.
Nice To Have:
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where focus and priorities can shift frequently.
• Good working knowledge of SQL for data investigation and validation.
• Some experience working with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with C#/.NET, or the ability to read and understand code in this stack.
• Some exposure to test automation tools or frameworks.
• Some experience with performance or load testing.
• A track record of working closely and collaboratively with development teams.
• Previous experience in a fintech environment.
