Solar Design Engineer

The Opportunity Ulteig is currently seeking talented and motivated Solar Design Engineer candidates to support the design of utility scale solar projects nationwide. This role will be a strategic contributor to the growth of our Renewables Lifeline Sector®. Qualified candidates will be considered to work remote from any location in the US, or if candidate chooses may work from any of Ulteig’s existing office locations. What You'll Do Work with internal multi-disciplinary teams and clients to develop Solar PV design/construction packages including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, collection system studies, and equipment installation details for Utility Scale Solar PV systems (50-500MW+) Turn initial high-level designs into optimized designs ready for construction. Leverage internal tools and external software to aid in the design process Contribute to continual development of internal solar engineering standards, toolsets and work processes. Partake in site visits and conferences to meet client requests and strengthen relationships. Support development of early-stage projects with conceptual designs and material take-offs. What We Expect from You Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program. EIT preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the solar industry. Experience with various solar design software programs (CYMCAP, PVFARM, SAM, PVsyst etc.) Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with estimating or designing electrical systems is mandatory. Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices is strongly preferred Due to the dynamic nature of the renewable energy market, the ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies is a must.
