Specialist Regulatory & Scientific Job Description The Specialist Regulatory & Scientific plays a key role in ensuring that holistic health products fully comply with all applicable United States regulations and internal policies. This remote, full-time position focuses on product composition, labeling, advertising, and associated communications for dietary supplements and conventional foods. The role provides regulatory and scientific leadership to cross-functional teams, supports innovation and renovation projects, and anticipates regulatory developments that may affect the current portfolio and future pipeline. Responsibilities Ensure full regulatory compliance with applicable US regulations and internal policies across product composition, advertising, labeling, websites, and all associated communications. Review and analyze the accuracy and substantiation of health claims and structure/function claims in collaboration with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Product Development, and other departments. Assess and qualify ingredients, including GRAS and NDI determinations, to ensure they meet regulatory requirements for dietary supplements and conventional foods. Clearly communicate areas of regulatory concern to the business and develop regulatory strategies that are effectively implemented to mitigate risk and support growth. Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to cross-functional teams, translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable recommendations. Advise on regulatory aspects of factory controls and testing, including product variances and compliance criteria, to support safe and compliant manufacturing practices. Partner and collaborate with Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Product Development to proactively identify and create opportunities for innovative product claims and positioning. Provide scientific and regulatory expertise to qualify Innovation and Renovation concepts, ensuring appropriate regulatory strategies are in place to support new product development. Conduct regulatory review of innovation and renovation projects at each stage gate, as needed, to ensure compliance and successful progression through the development process. Work in anticipation of regulatory developments that could affect current products and future pipelines, and recommend adjustments to strategies and communications accordingly. Manage complex regulatory projects and prioritize actions based on clear and pragmatic criteria to meet timelines and business objectives. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Regulatory Affairs, Life Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, or a related discipline is preferred. Advanced degree such as a Master’s or RD, or similar qualification, is a plus. At least 5 years of experience in the food and/or dietary supplements regulatory environment. Full expertise in regulatory compliance for dietary supplements and conventional foods, including product composition, DSHEA requirements, ingredient qualification (e.g., GRAS, NDI), labeling, health claims, structure/function claims, and overall product communications. Strong knowledge of US regulations governing dietary supplements and conventional foods. Proven ability to manage highly complex projects and prioritize actions based on clear and pragmatic criteria. Ability to provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to cross-functional teams. Experience reviewing and substantiating health claims and structure/function claims. Experience advising on regulatory aspects of factory controls, testing, and product variances. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Product Development, and other cross-functional partners. Experience developing and implementing regulatory strategies that support innovation and renovation initiatives. Ability to anticipate regulatory developments and assess their impact on product portfolios and pipelines. Strong analytical skills to review scientific data, ingredient information, and claims substantiation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain regulatory requirements and concerns to non-specialist stakeholders. Background in chemistry or related scientific disciplines that supports understanding of product composition and ingredient qualification. Work Environment This is a remote, full-time position with a standard Monday to Friday schedule, typically 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work is primarily performed using digital tools and collaboration platforms with cross-functional teams in Medical Affairs, Marketing, Product Development, and manufacturing-related functions. The environment emphasizes regulatory rigor, scientific integrity, and close partnership across departments to support compliant and innovative holistic health products. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of St. Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
