Job Description: IMAX is seeking a Technical Services Specialist to provide service, support, and maintenance for IMAX digital projection and audio systems across the UK and Europe. Based remotely in the UK, this role plays a critical part in ensuring audiences experience the highest-quality IMAX presentation through preventative maintenance, rapid issue resolution, and exceptional customer support. The Technical Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining theatre uptime, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and supporting customers in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment where every show matters. This position requires extensive travel, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to customer service and operational excellence. Responsibilities Technical Service & Support Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades on IMAX digital projection and audio systems through on-site visits and remote support Maintain target uptime across IMAX theatres through proactive servicing and rapid response to technical issues Handle and maintain sophisticated, high-value projection and audio equipment in a critical "show must go on" environment Plan, schedule, and execute service visits, including hardware and software installations Diagnose and resolve equipment failures to minimize downtime and reduce lost shows Respond to customer alerts, emails, and phone calls within established service level expectations Support emergency service dispatches and recover systems to normal operation as quickly as possible Travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe, often on short notice, to support theatre operations Reporting & Operational Excellence Prepare detailed service reports following customer visits Maintain accurate service records and complete reporting through CRM systems and internal databases Track replacement parts and ensure compliance with warranty return requirements Maintain accurate theatre information and technical records Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance service quality and operational efficiency Qualifications Diploma or degree in Engineering, Electronics, Computer Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Experience in electronics, computer repair, field service, or technical support environments Strong knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, and specialized diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and audio test equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation Experience handling and installing electronic components using proper anti-static procedures Working knowledge of AC and DC power systems, including low-voltage, single-phase, and three-phase equipment Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and common PC hardware and software Basic understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, connectivity testing, and network communications Working knowledge of FTP protocols, Telnet, and related utilities Valid driver's license and passport with the ability to travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe Nice to Haves Experience supporting commercial cinema, audiovisual, or projection systems Background in field service, help desk, repair bench, or network support Experience with Windows operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting Industry experience in Cinema Technology, Entertainment Technology, Audiovisual (AV), Electronics, Technical Field Services, or IT Infrastructure Working Conditions Home-based role located in the UK Service work is frequently performed outside normal business hours Extensive travel (up to 75%) throughout the UK and Europe, including occasional short-notice travel Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work at heights as required At IMAX, you will be part of a culture built on respect – we are committed to creating a welcoming and diverse atmosphere across our organization.
