About the Role
Kopius is seeking Senior Systems Engineers / DevOps professionals to join our team on a long-term engagement supporting a leading global technology company. This role focuses on Systems Engineering, DevOps, and SRE work across production infrastructure — including CDN, edge, container orchestration, and cloud platforms.
This is a senior, hands-on role for engineers who thrive in production environments — designing and maintaining automation, resolving incidents, participating in on-call rotations, and ensuring reliability, performance, and security at scale. You will work directly with client engineering teams operating on U.S. Pacific Time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain Akamai Cloudlets policies — including Edge Redirector, Forward Rewrite, and Policy Manager
- Support and operate Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads in production
- Build and maintain infrastructure on AWS — including compute, networking, storage, and security services
- Develop advanced Python automation for infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and operational tooling
- Manage and improve CDN and WAF infrastructure, edge configurations, and traffic routing
- Provide production support and incident management — root cause analysis, remediation, and post-incident documentation
- Participate in SRE on-call rotations and drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements
- Partner with development teams on deployment strategies, release processes, and platform-level enhancements
- Champion security, compliance, and operational best practices across infrastructure and pipelines
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced English with strong written and verbal communication skills (daily interaction with U.S.-based teams)
- Self-motivated and comfortable operating independently in a production environment
- Strong incident-response mindset — calm, structured, and effective under pressure
- Available for U.S. Pacific Time business hours and on-call rotations
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution
- Thrives in collaborative team environments and contributes to shared goals
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership over production reliability and operational outcomes
Technical Requirements
- Senior-level Systems Engineering, DevOps, or SRE experience in production environments
- Hands-on expertise with Akamai Cloudlets — Edge Redirector, Forward Rewrite, Policy Manager
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes — cluster operations, workloads, and troubleshooting
- Deep, hands-on experience with AWS — compute, networking, storage, IAM, and security services
- Advanced Python scripting and automation for infrastructure and operations
- Experience operating CDN and WAF infrastructure at scale
- Proven production support and incident management experience — root cause analysis, remediation, post-mortems
- Hands-on SRE on-call experience with real production ownership
- Proficiency with Git and modern CI/CD workflows
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Nice to have: Exposure to AI / ML infrastructure or GPU-accelerated workloads
- Nice to have: Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
- Nice to have: Observability tooling experience (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or similar)
