Job Summary Insulet is seeking an experienced and business-oriented employment lawyer to serve as Senior Director, International Employment Law Counsel. This senior individual contributor role will provide strategic employment law leadership across EMEA and other international regions as assigned. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to HR leadership and senior business partners, leading complex and sensitive employment matters while helping shape the company's international employment law strategy, governance framework, and workforce risk management approach. This role requires a seasoned professional with the judgment, senior presence, and influence to drive decisions, build alignment across stakeholders, and operate independently in a dynamic global environment. This is an opportunity for a highly experienced employment lawyer who brings a practical, "been there, done that" perspective, is comfortable advising senior leaders on difficult issues, and can independently lead sophisticated international employment matters with minimal day-to-day oversight. Responsibilities: Serve as the lead employment law advisor for EMEA and other international regions as assigned, providing strategic legal counsel on complex and high-risk employment matters. Lead the development and execution of the company's international employment law strategy and governance framework, establishing scalable, risk-based approaches to workforce management, employee relations, investigations, workforce restructurings, policy development, and legal compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Partner directly with senior HR leaders, executives, and business stakeholders to shape workforce strategy and employment practices across international markets, balancing business objectives with legal, regulatory, and employee-relations considerations. Provide practical, business-focused legal advice across the full range of employment issues facing a multinational organization, including hiring/recruiting, employee relations, performance management, benefits and compensation, workforce restructurings, executive employment matters, restrictive covenants, investigations, terminations, and employment litigation. Independently lead complex and sensitive employment matters, exercising sound judgment and making recommendations that balance legal, operational, employee-relations, and reputational considerations. Influence decision-making at senior levels of the organization by translating legal requirements and risk assessments into actionable business guidance and facilitating effective outcomes. Advise on and coordinate cross-border employment matters, ensuring consistency of approach while accounting for local legal requirements, business needs, and cultural considerations. Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions and proactively advise leadership on emerging risks, trends, and compliance obligations, translating legal developments into strategic actions and governance priorities. Develop, review, and implement employment-related policies, practices, governance frameworks, libraries and guidelines, and employee documentation to support business objectives and legal compliance. Manage internal investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, whistleblower reports, executive employee relations issues, and other sensitive workplace matters. Support strategic business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, business integrations, organizational transformations, international expansions, and other enterprise-wide projects with employment law implications, serving as a key advisor on workforce-related risk and governance considerations. Select, manage, and oversee external counsel globally, ensuring high-quality legal advice, efficient matter management, and cost-effective outcomes. Deliver training and guidance to HR professionals, business leaders, and management teams on employment law developments, workplace investigations, employee relations, and legal compliance. Serve as a senior resource within the Legal Department by sharing expertise, mentoring colleagues, and helping elevate employment law capabilities across the global organization. Performs other duties as required. Education and Experience: Minimum Requirements: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, currently in good standing with a state bar association. 15+ years of broad-based legal experience in relevant areas, including HR/employment. Experience with a medical device or life sciences company is preferred. Experience in either a major law firm or in-house in a corporate legal department. Preferred Skills and Competencies: Ability to operate in a fast-paced, corporate/in-house work environment and juggle competing priorities while remaining a valued and respected member of business teams. Qualified solicitor with a current practicing certificate in the United Kingdom. Significant post-qualification experience specializing in employment law, including substantial experience advising multinational organizations on complex cross-border employment matters. Typically, candidates will possess approximately 15+ years of relevant experience, although equivalent experience and expertise will also be considered. Demonstrated success serving as a senior employment law advisor within a global business environment, with the ability to independently handle high-profile, high-risk, and business-critical matters. Deep expertise in UK employment law and significant experience supporting multiple European jurisdictions. Proven ability to influence senior executives and business leaders through practical, commercially focused legal advice. Significant experience leading sensitive investigations, executive employee relations matters, workforce restructurings, and employment disputes. Experience developing and implementing employment law governance frameworks, policies, and compliance programs across multiple international jurisdictions. Strong track record of managing external counsel and coordinating multi-jurisdictional legal strategies. Ability to exercise exceptional judgment and make difficult decisions in situations involving legal, operational, reputational, and employee-relations risk. Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated ability to operate independently, prioritize competing demands, and lead complex matters with minimal supervision. Experience working in both private practice and in-house legal environments preferred. Trusted advisor capable of earning credibility quickly with senior leaders, HR executives, and key business stakeholders. Senior presence and confidence to challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and drive alignment across complex stakeholder groups. Highly pragmatic and solutions-oriented, with a strong ability to balance legal risk against business objectives. Comfortable operating in ambiguous situations and leading through complexity without requiring significant oversight. Demonstrated ability to establish governance, drive consistency, and build scalable employment law approaches across multiple jurisdictions. Collaborative, resilient, and adept at building relationships across cultures, functions, and geographies. Physical Requirements (if applicable): Hybrid working model; presence in the London office is required 2-3 times per week depending on the Legal team’s and/or the company’s needs. General office environment; may sit for long periods of time. Domestic and/or international travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
