Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description This position will drive the adoption of Cryo-Electron Microscopy in Pharma, developing and implementing both long-term profitable growth within the Life Sciences Business and short-term annual operating plan commitments. The role builds strategic portfolio options over a 5-year horizon, identifies current and future Pharma market requirements, evaluates the competitive landscape, and develops strategies to accelerate penetration into the Pharma market and rapidly grow the customer base. As Senior Director / General Manager Pharma EM, this leader will have broad general management accountability for the Pharma segment, including strategy, portfolio direction, innovation roadmap, market expansion, commercialization, customer adoption, and business performance. The role requires strong P&L orientation and close collaboration across R&D, Sales, Operations, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional partners to deliver growth, margin, revenue, bookings, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives. As Sr. Director / General Manager, Pharma Segment, you will lead the global growth strategy for Electron Microscopy in the pharmaceutical market. You will help pharmaceutical innovators harness some of the world’s most advanced imaging and analytical technologies to better understand biological structures, drug targets and therapeutic mechanisms. Building on our position in drug discovery, you will identify and develop new opportunities across the pharmaceutical value chain, including formulation, process development and manufacturing. By enabling deeper scientific insight, better development decisions and more robust pharmaceutical processes, your work will ultimately help customers accelerate the development and delivery of more effective therapies to patients around the world. Working across a global, highly matrixed organization, you will mobilize commercial, product and technical teams around a shared strategy and build the Pharma segment into a high-growth business. Key Responsibilities: Define and execute the global Pharma growth strategy for Electron Microscopy, translating market trends, customer insights and emerging opportunities into clear priorities, initiatives and measurable business outcomes. Own the growth agenda and business results for the segment with strong P&L ownership, setting ambitious goals, monitoring progress and making the strategic and commercial trade-offs required to drive sustainable revenue and profitability. Build deep relationships with leading pharmaceutical customers , developing a strong understanding of their workflows, decision processes and unmet needs and translating those insights into differentiated customer value propositions. Expand Electron Microscopy into new pharmaceutical applications , building on our foundation in drug discovery to explore and develop opportunities in formulation, process development, manufacturing and other emerging workflows. Develop and execute effective go-to-market strategies for global pharmaceutical accounts, working closely with regional commercial teams to accelerate adoption and strengthen our position in the market. Shape portfolio and product strategy based on customer and market requirements, partnering across product management, applications and other functions to support the development and commercialization of compelling solutions. Lead and inspire a distributed global team and broader matrix organization , creating alignment around the strategy, establishing clear priorities and enabling colleagues across functions and regions to execute effectively, while , promoting inclusion, innovation and accountability. Champion a customer-first, agile and continuously improving culture , adapting strategies and priorities as customer needs, market dynamics and technologies evolve while maintaining strong accountability for results. Qualifications: Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and drug discovery process , combined with insight into the challenges, workflows and requirements associated with drug formulation and manufacturing. Demonstrated commercial and business leadership experience in pharma, life sciences, analytical instrumentation or a related technology-driven market, with a track record of translating strategy into growth. Ability to build relationships with customers, key opinion leaders and other business partners. Experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies , ideally involving sophisticated capital equipment or technology solutions sold to large, complex global pharmaceutical accounts. Strong customer and market orientation , with demonstrated ability to uncover unmet customer needs, understand purchasing and decision processes and convert market insight into commercial and portfolio strategies. Strong business and financial acumen , with the ability to balance commercial and financial levers, establish clear performance objectives and make informed trade-offs to achieve revenue and profitability goals. Experience in portfolio, product or service management , with the ability to connect customer requirements and market opportunities to product strategy, development and commercialization priorities. Proven ability to lead through influence in a global matrix environment , aligning distributed, cross-functional teams around common priorities and driving execution across organizational boundaries. Strategic, entrepreneurial and results-oriented leadership style , with the agility to identify emerging opportunities, move strategy into action and build a high-growth business in a dynamic technology environment. Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in is €148,500.00–€247,500.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
