Job Summary Western Midstream is seeking an experienced Sr Electrical Engineer to join the Operations Engineering team in The Woodlands, Texas. This role provides technical leadership and electrical engineering support for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of gathering systems, gas compression facilities, gas processing plants, oil stabilization facilities, pumping stations, produced water systems, and associated infrastructure across all WES operating areas. The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource to Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Field personnel by troubleshooting electrical issues, improving system reliability, developing engineering standards, supporting maintenance strategies, and providing engineering oversight for facility modifications and operational improvements. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines to ensure safe and reliable facility operations. Qualifications Education: BS in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline with relevant experience) from an accredited program. Experience: Minimum of 10 years in industrial electrical engineering; Oil & Gas experience preferred. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of NEC, Hazardous Area Classification, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable codes/standards. Experience with high, medium and low voltage power systems, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, motors, VFDs, substations, grounding, conduit, cable tray, and duct bank systems. Experience with power system studies, relay coordination, arc flash analysis, power quality, and protective device settings. Ability to read and develop electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Experience with predictive maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, and electrical reliability programs. Leadership & Collaboration: Experience supporting Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability organizations. Experience leading consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication and troubleshooting skills with field personnel. Other Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).. Track record of operating with urgency, accountability, and teamwork in a matrixed environment Responsibilities Provide electrical engineering support for existing operating facilities, including troubleshooting, reliability improvements, equipment failures, system modifications, and operational optimization. Support high, medium and low-voltage electrical systems including substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, motors, VFDs, UPS systems, generators, and distribution equipment. Lead root cause failure analyses (RCFA) for significant electrical equipment failures. Develop long-term reliability improvements and lifecycle replacement strategies. Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs. Develop, maintain, and improve electrical engineering standards and specifications. Review and approve electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, relay settings, load studies, and equipment modifications. Support MOC, PHA, PSSR, and incident investigations. Provide technical oversight during outages, shutdowns, and major maintenance activities. Support commissioning following maintenance or equipment replacement. Work closely with Operations, Reliability, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Integrity, and Field personnel. Manage engineering consultants and contractors supporting operational improvements. Evaluate obsolete equipment and develop modernization plans. Support capital projects by reviewing designs for maintainability and operability. Provide technical input for equipment selection and procurement. Ensure compliance with company standards and applicable regulations. Conduct site visits (approximately 20–30%) to support troubleshooting and maintenance. Preferred Credentials Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, not required. Experience with facility arc-flash programs, electrical reliability, and operating-facility troubleshooting preferred. Additional Information Relocation: May be considered. Travel: 5–25% (may increase during peak project activity). Work Schedule: Hybrid – Mon/Tues/Thurs in-office, Wed/Fri remote. 9/80 schedule (9 hours Mon–Thurs, 4 hours Fri).
