As a Sr Field Service Fire Technician here at Honeywell, you will have the opportunity to provide high-level technical support and service to our customers, ensuring the optimal performance of Honeywell fire alarm and life safety systems. You will troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, perform inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs, and commissioning, and provide technical guidance to customers and junior technicians. You will report directly to our Field Service Supervisor, and you’ll work out of our Raleigh, NC location on a Hybrid work schedule, performing fire alarm inspections, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, and service activities at customer locations throughout the area. In this role, you will impact customer safety, satisfaction, and operational efficiency by providing high-quality technical service and support while ensuring fire alarm and life safety systems operate reliably and meet applicable codes and standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in Field Service team activities to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Perform periodic inspections, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm and life safety systems at customer sites. Troubleshoot and resolve faults involving fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, batteries, modules, relays, and communication systems . Perform point-to-point testing, device verification, system functional testing, alarm verification, and system restoration following service activities. Install, program, configure, commission, and service addressable and conventional fire alarm systems . Diagnose system wiring and communication issues, including shorts, opens, ground faults, device failures, and communication/network issues . Interpret fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, sequence of operations, and system documentation to identify and resolve field issues. Apply knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70, local fire codes, and applicable AHJ requirements to ensure system compliance. Support fire alarm system upgrades, replacements, modifications, and new installations. Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, configurations, deficiencies, repairs, and service actions. Communicate system deficiencies and recommended corrective actions to customers and internal teams. Comply with all Honeywell safety, HSE, quality, customer-site, and documentation requirements. Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced technicians when needed. Travel throughout the Raleigh, NC area and surrounding customer locations as required. YOU MUST HAVE High School diploma or GED. Minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience as a Fire Alarm/Fire Protection Field Service Technician. NICET Level I certification in Fire Alarm Systems OR willingness to obtain NICET Level I certification within 90 days of employment. Strong hands-on experience with fire alarm systems, including control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, batteries, modules, relays, and system communications. Experience performing fire alarm inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, and system repairs. Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70, applicable fire codes, and AHJ requirements. Ability to read and interpret fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and sequences of operation. Experience troubleshooting addressable and conventional fire alarm systems . Valid Driver’s License required to travel to customer locations. Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, AHJs, contractors, and internal teams. Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws. WE VALUE Experience with Honeywell, Notifier, Gamewell-FCI, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Siemens, Simplex, or other major fire alarm platforms. Experience with programming, downloading, configuration, and firmware updates for fire alarm control panels. Experience with fire alarm system commissioning, acceptance testing, and AHJ inspections. NICET Level II certification or progress toward advanced NICET certification. Experience with mass notification, emergency communication, smoke control, fire suppression interfaces, access control, and other integrated life safety systems. Familiarity with basic computer software and tools for reporting and documentation. Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to safety and compliance. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple service priorities. Strong technical documentation and customer communication skills. Experience mentoring or providing technical support to junior fire technicians.
