The Sr. Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the organization meets ongoing regulatory, reporting, and compliance obligations across multiple federal, state, and local requirements. This role focuses on execution excellence (owning routine and recurring compliance deliverables such as agency reporting, employment-related regulatory filings, and benefits compliance audits) while also supporting policy and procedure development and review. The Senior Compliance Associate serves as a subject matter resource on employment-law-adjacent compliance requirements and partners cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Legal, and Operations to ensure timely, accurate, and defensible compliance practices. What You’ll Do: Prepare, manage, and submit recurring regulatory and agency reports (10+ monthly reports), ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and proper documentation. Own mandated employment-related filings and reporting obligations, including but not limited to EEO-1 reporting, ACA benefits reporting, and other federal or state workforce compliance requirements. Audit employee status changes, including part-time to full-time transitions, to ensure compliance with ACA eligibility, benefits enrollment, and reporting requirements. Maintain compliance calendars, track deadlines, submission requirements, and support documentation for audits and inquiries. Review, update, and maintain employee handbook content and company-wide policies to ensure alignment with current employment laws and regulatory guidance. Partner with internal departments to review proposed policies, procedures, and operational changes that involve employment law or compliance considerations. Respond to internal and external compliance inquiries, audits, or agency requests by gathering documentation and coordinating responses. Identify compliance gaps or process improvement opportunities and elevate risks or recommendations to Compliance or HR leadership. Maintain accurate records within designated HR and compliance systems and ensure documentation meets internal and external standards. Exercise sound judgment, attention to detail, and discretion while handling confidential information and sensitive data. What You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, compliance, or a related field required (or equivalent professional experience). 4+ years of experience in HR compliance, regulatory reporting, or a related compliance-focused role. Demonstrated experience managing recurring regulatory or agency reporting obligations with strict deadlines. Working knowledge of employment-law-related compliance requirements, including ACA, EEO reporting, and workforce recordkeeping. Strong analytical and auditing skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple recurring deliverables simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document processes and explain compliance requirements to stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and ability to learn and navigate HRIS, payroll, benefits, and compliance systems. High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and company information.
