Sr. Toxicologist (5361) Hot Job Fully Remote • Remote - Indianapolis, IN 46241 Quick Apply Overview Education Level 4 Year Degree Quick Apply Description Sr. Toxicologist Position Overview: We are seeking a board-certified Toxicologist with expertise in drug testing interpretation for urine and oral fluid matrices to join our team. This highly client-facing role serves as a technical and scientific resource for clients, providing written and verbal interpretation of test results, and represents the organization as an expert witness in litigation matters. The Toxicologist works closely with the Scientific Director and other board-certified toxicologists within the organization to ensure a consistent, aligned scientific voice across all client communications, litigation support, and testimony. This is a remote position with occasional travel required for client visits, testimony, and industry conferences. Reports to: Scientific Director Location: Remote Key Responsibilities: Client-Facing Technical Support • Result Interpretation: Provides expert interpretation of drug testing results in urine and oral fluid specimens for clients, both in writing and via phone. • Technical Consultation: Serves as a primary technical point of contact for client questions regarding test methodology, result interpretation, and result significance. • Consistency of Voice: Collaborates with the Scientific Director and other board-certified toxicologists to ensure consistent, aligned technical messaging and interpretation standards across all client interactions. Litigation Support & Expert Testimony • Expert Witness Testimony: Provides expert witness testimony via phone, online video platforms, and in person as required. • Affidavits & Certifications: Executes affidavits and certifies litigation packets in support of legal proceedings. • Chain of Custody Review: Maintains thorough knowledge of chain of custody requirements for biological specimens and reviews documentation to confirm chain of custody was properly maintained for any results the Toxicologist attests to or testifies about. • Legal Coordination: Works with legal counsel and internal stakeholders to prepare for depositions, hearings, and trial testimony. Training & Internal Collaboration • Client Training: Trains clients on the interpretation and application of drug testing results. • Internal Training: Provides training to internal teams, including sales and client services, on toxicology concepts, result interpretation, and testing methodology. • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partners with the Scientific Director and fellow toxicologists to maintain a unified scientific and technical approach across the organization. Marketing & External Communications • Written Materials: Contributes toxicology expertise to marketing materials, technical publications, and other written content as needed. • Industry Representation: Represents the organization at industry conferences and professional events. Professional Development • Certification Maintenance: Maintains board certification (e.g., D-ABFT, ABCC) in good standing. • Continuing Education: Participates in continuing education to stay current with developments in toxicology, forensic science, and relevant regulatory standards. Qualifications: Education & Experience: • Education: Master's degree or higher in Toxicology, Clinical Chemistry, or a closely related field required. • Certification: Board certification in forensic toxicology or clinical chemistry (e.g., D-ABFT, ABCC) required or strongly preferred. • Experience: Demonstrated experience in drug testing interpretation for urine and oral fluid matrices, and prior experience providing expert witness testimony. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of drug testing methodology, pharmacology, and toxicological interpretation for urine and oral fluid specimens. • Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with CAP-FDT accreditation standards and legal defensibility principles, with strong working knowledge of chain of custody requirements for biological samples and the ability to assess whether chain of custody documentation supports the legal defensibility of results being attested to or testified about. • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences (clients, legal teams, courts, internal staff). • Presentation & Testimony Skills: Comfortable and effective delivering testimony in varied formats, including phone, video, and in-person settings. • Training Ability: Skilled at developing and delivering training content for external clients and internal teams. • Collaboration: Ability to work closely and consistently with other board-certified toxicologists and scientific leadership to maintain a unified organizational voice. Travel Requirements: • Occasional travel required for client visits, in-person testimony, and industry conferences. #LAB123
