Description Staff Accountant Location: Fairlawn, Ohio or any of our OH offices (travel to Fairlawn, OH about once a month) Employment Type: Full-Time, Hybrid Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This role supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization while ensuring accurate financial records and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will contribute to key accounting functions, assist with the month-end close process, and support operational accounting activities. Perform daily bank reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Provide accounting support for Accounts Receivable activities, including customer account maintenance. Assist agency billing processes while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely processing. Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and standardized procedures to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy. Prepare financial reports, analyses, and supporting schedules for management decision-making. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and other general ledger responsibilities. Support the integrity of the general ledger through accurate reconciliations and accounting records Collaborate closely with the accounting team by providing timely, accurate communication and daily updates to ensure efficient workflows and successful completion of department objectives. Provide accounting support for Accounts Payable activities. Assist with special projects and other accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, required 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferred Insurance industry experience is helpful, but not required Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting processes, preferred Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close activities, preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems is a plus Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Demonstrated curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset, especially around automation and process efficiency Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism Benefits Health, dental and vision insurance from day one Company-funded health savings account (HSA) Life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance 401(k) with employer match Paid time off, including summer hours and paid parental leave Hybrid work location And much more!
