Staff Security Engineer

🔐 Staff Security Engineer | Remote | Contract

We're hiring a Staff Security Engineer to join a rapidly growing technology business operating in the payments and fintech space.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead critical security initiatives, drive compliance programs, strengthen cloud security, and build detection and response capabilities from the ground up.

What You'll Do

• Lead PCI DSS compliance efforts through audit completion
• Identify security gaps and implement effective controls
• Build and enhance security monitoring, detection, and alerting capabilities
• Manage incident triage and response activities
• Secure cloud infrastructure across AWS and/or GCP environments
• Work with Kubernetes and Terraform-based infrastructure
• Conduct threat modelling and security reviews of production applications
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security best practices

What We're Looking For

Required

✔ 8+ years of experience in Security Engineering, Software Engineering, or a combination of both

✔ Strong hands-on experience securing AWS and/or GCP environments

✔ Expertise with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

✔ Experience with cloud-native security tools such as GuardDuty, Inspector, Security Command Center, or similar technologies

✔ Proven ownership of PCI DSS and/or SOC 2 audits and compliance controls

✔ Experience implementing and operating SIEM or security monitoring platforms

✔ Strong incident response and security operations experience

✔ Ability to understand and assess application code for security risks (TypeScript, Go, or similar)

Nice to Have

• Experience building security programs from scratch
• Fintech, payments, or regulated-industry experience

6-month (rolling) Contract

Rate: $22 - $26 / hr
