What You'll Do Your key accountabilities will include: Deliver and own high-quality software solutions, building, maintaining and operating reliable cloud-based services with strong automation, while taking responsibility for support and issue resolution, including participation in an out-of-hours support rota. Drive engineering excellence and DevOps practices, championing automation, experimentation and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle to improve quality, stability and delivery performance. Develop and embed engineering frameworks, standards and best practices, contributing to product planning, technical roadmaps and the achievement of Product Group objectives and key results. Mentor, coach and support engineers through code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing, helping to raise engineering capability and promote high-quality, maintainable code. Promote innovation, collaboration and continuous learning across teams, actively participating in communities of practice and helping shape recruitment and hiring strategies. Partner closely with Product Managers, Delivery teams and business stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business goals and customer outcomes. Drive operational excellence through monitoring, observability, incident management and continuous service improvement, ensuring resilient and reliable platforms. Who You Are Your skills and experience will include: Strong software engineering experience building and supporting enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems. Hands-on experience with database technologies including MongoDB, SQL and CosmosDB. Experience developing cloud-native solutions using Azure Cloud Platform and Azure Databricks. Strong development experience with Java 11+, Spring Boot and modern software engineering practices. Experience working with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies including Kafka and IBM MQ. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and automation practices using Terraform. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and applying DevOps principles throughout the development lifecycle. Desirable Experience Experience within retail, supply chain, logistics or fulfilment technology environments. Exposure to modern observability, monitoring and site reliability engineering practices. Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering communities and best practices.
