The ServiceNow Platform team owns implementations and integrations for our global instance of ServiceNow. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and extensibility of our ServiceNow platform that empower LinkedIn’s enterprise operations across IT Operations, HR, Finance, and Workplace systems . You will directly impact the day-to-day experience of LinkedIn’s 17,500+ Employees and Contingent Workforce. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. Responsibilities: Define Engineering Craftsmanship: Maintain accountability for the integrity of code design, implementation, quality, data, and ongoing maintenance and operations. Be hands-on, self-driven, and continuously learn new approaches, languages, and frameworks. Create technical specifications, and write high-quality, supportable, scalable code ensuring all quality KPIs are met or exceeded. Demonstrate collaborative skills to work effectively with diverse teams. You will lead the design, development, and optimization of complex ServiceNow solutions leveraging modern platform capabilities, best practices, and extensibility frameworks. Architect and govern CMDB and Asset Management solutions, ensuring data quality, normalization, reconciliation, lifecycle integrity, and operational reliability. Act as a technical authority across SAM (HAM/SAM Pro), ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, Health), SPM, and enterprise analytics and reporting. Design scalable CMDB models that support ITOM visibility, asset lifecycles, compliance, reporting, and integration with downstream systems. Build and optimize Platform Analytics, Performance Analytics, and executive-level dashboards, driving data-informed decision-making. Define technical patterns, guardrails, and reference architectures aligned with platform strategy and long-term sustainment. Partner with Product Management, Business Stakeholders, Information Security, and Operations to translate strategic goals into robust technical solutions. Mentor engineers and provide architectural guidance through design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching. Lead complex troubleshooting efforts, including CMDB health issues, discovery failures, integration bottlenecks, and performance degradation. Produce high-quality, audit-ready technical documentation, including solution designs, data models, and architectural diagrams Basic Qualifications: BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience. 10+ years experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions. Experience in computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns Hands-on experience working on ServiceNow HR/TSM Modules – Creating Service Catalogs, Record Producers, Portal, Workflows and Orchestration Hands-on expertise with CMDB architecture, discovery, normalization, reconciliation rules, and CI lifecycle management. Understanding of asset lifecycles, license compliance, software normalization, and hardware asset governance. Preferred Qualifications: ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Certified Master Architect (CMA). BS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 4+ years of relevant work experience. Understanding of platform governance, upgrade strategies, and technical debt management.
