About us
XMartial is a combat sports apparel brand (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, Muay Thai). We have served over 100,000 customers in 50+ countries with distinctive designs and high-quality gear. We move fast, we ship often, and we care a lot about how our store looks, feels, and converts.
What this role is
You own our Shopify store. Not "make changes when told", you run it: how it looks, how it is merchandised, and how well it converts visitors into buyers. You create the visual assets and put them live yourself, you decide what to fix next, and you are measured on whether the store gets better, not just busier.
This is an independent role. We will give you the goal and the data, and trust you to own the outcome. You will work alongside our SEO specialist (who surfaces ranking and traffic priorities) and the founder (who sets business priorities), but the store itself is yours to run.
What you will do
Own conversion and merchandising
- Own collection pages end to end: sorting, layout, which products are featured, removing out-of-stock clutter, fixing duplicate or broken pages, and structuring them to convert.
- Improve product pages and the whole path to cart: imagery, layout, trust elements, and the on-page experience that gets people to add to cart and check out.
- Decide what to fix next, ranked by impact on conversion. Run simple structured tests (A/B or before-and-after) on what you change, and track results against a baseline. Every change has a reason and a number behind it.
Design and production
- Create and update visual assets: collection banners, hero and display images, promotional graphics, product-page graphics.
- Edit and retouch product imagery in Photoshop so the catalog looks consistent and premium.
- Keep the whole store visually on-brand.
Hands-on Shopify
- Make changes directly in Shopify: images, copy blocks, layouts, collection rules, publishing.
- Small theme edits in HTML, CSS, and Liquid when the visual editor is not enough.
- Manage apps and keep the store tidy, fast, and organized.
What we are looking for
Must have
- Real, hands-on Shopify experience on live stores. You know the admin, the theme editor, and apps. Not "I watched a course", but "I have run and improved real stores."
- Strong Photoshop and design skills: banners, collection art, retouched product imagery. Portfolio required.
- A genuine conversion mindset. You think about why a page does or does not convert, not only how it looks.
- A good eye for clean, modern, high-converting e-commerce design and merchandising.
- Comfort with light HTML, CSS, and Liquid edits.
- The ability to own a store independently: prioritize, decide, execute, and report, without being managed day to day.
- Organized and detail-oriented. Changes go live correct the first time.
- Good written English and reliable communication.
Nice to have
- Direct CRO or A/B testing experience, or a track record of measurably lifting an online store's conversion rate.
- Interest in or knowledge of combat sports (BJJ, MMA, Muay Thai).
- Figma, and comfort using AI tools (image editing, upscaling, background removal, copy help) to work faster.
