Strategic Sourcing Specialist

The opportunity Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support an accelerated program of strategic delivery across significant water infrastructure capital works in Queensland. Reporting to the Regional Procurement Manager, this six-month fixed-term contract will take ownership of a defined program of sourcing activity, from strategy development and market engagement through to negotiation, contract recommendation, award and implementation. This is a delivery-focused role suited to a confident, hands-on procurement professional who can quickly establish priorities, create structure and progress complex sourcing activity within compressed timeframes. The role offers hybrid working, with a minimum of three days per week in the office or on site and flexibility across the remaining two days. What you’ll do Develop and execute end-to-end sourcing strategies, RFx processes, market engagement and complex commercial negotiations. Establish subcontracting, panel and framework agreements that leverage demand, buying power and economies of scale. Analyse spend, supplier capability, market trends and stakeholder requirements to identify value, savings and risk reduction opportunities. Lead the negotiation and implementation of supplier and subcontractor agreements, ensuring appropriate governance, probity and commercial discipline. Engage with stakeholders across all levels of the business, leading a cross functional team of SME’s and providing input into ongoing governance boards throughout the process. Transition sourcing outcomes into business-as-usual operations, including supplier onboarding, contract documentation, user guidance and performance management arrangements. The opportunity to work within a Tier 1 ASX-listed organisation with extensive in-house technical, commercial and delivery capability. What we’re looking for Seven or more years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing or category management within construction, utilities, oil and gas, or a related industry, ideally within a Tier 1 environment. Demonstrated experience managing complex sourcing packages, subcontractor agreements, market engagement, negotiations and contract implementation. Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the Australian construction market, procurement governance and relevant forms of contract. A confident, proactive and resourceful approach, with the ability to establish priorities and deliver outcomes in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment. Tertiary qualifications in procurement, commercial management, contract management, business, finance or a related discipline. CIPS or similar accreditation will be highly regarded.
