RESTRICTED TO MCGILL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS Student Research Assistant (Digital Humanities) Feather Book Project (SSHRC) Rare Books and Special Collections, McGill Library Position title: Student Research Assistant (DH) Requirements: MLIS, or Masters in progress Hours: Up to 12 hours per week, September-December 2026 (option for renewal) Hourly rate: $19.02 per hour plus $4.24 benefits Work location: McGill library or remote Supervisors: Victoria Dickenson, Professor of Practice, Rare Books and Special Collections; Andrew Senior, Collections Services, McGill Libraries To apply: CV and brief covering letter Position Summary: Develop Feather Book Project website. The site, to be developed in McGill Web Management System (WMS) , will host a description of the project and network members, and will publish short essays, case studies, reports on research and testing, and host videos embedded from McGill Libraries YouTube channel of the McGill Bibliotheca naturae Student Symposia (BNSS) as well as documentation of project workshop(s) Liaise with McGill Translation services to make website available in in English and French with some Italian content Establish shared database on FB Project Google Drive, following template developed by McGill Libraries Cataloguing Services Investigate open and accessible online platforms for the publication of an annotated digital Feather Book Assist in maintaining internal communications between the research network using the google drive, zoom and other technologies for research collaboration Qualifications: Experience of web development and design and knowledge of current web standards Good general knowledge of technology, internet conferencing and file sharing technologies Undergraduate degree in history, history of science, cultural geography or related discipline is useful. Knowledge of French and Italian is an asset Interest in knowledge management for academic research projects; experience in digital preservation, file name protocols, and cloud-based storage options an asset.
