WMYD Detroit is seeking a dynamic and engaging Studio Host, Sports to serve as the face of Scripps Sports programming. This role is responsible for leading compelling sports discussions, providing insightful analysis, conducting high-profile interviews, and delivering high-quality content that informs, entertains, and engages audiences across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional on-air presence, deep sports knowledge, strong interviewing skills, and the ability to connect with viewers while representing the Scripps Sports brand with professionalism and credibility. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Lead live studio broadcasts, including pre-game shows, halftime reports, post-game analysis, and special sports programming. Facilitate discussions with analysts, guest commentators, athletes, and sports personalities, ensuring conversations are engaging, informative, and balanced. Provide insightful commentary and analysis on sporting events, teams, athletes, and key storylines. Research and gather current information on teams, players, standings, statistics, recent performances, and upcoming matchups. Prepare talking points, interview questions, and discussion topics for broadcasts, interviews, and panel discussions. Stay informed on major sports news, trades, injuries, league developments, and other events impacting coverage. Collaborate with producers, writers, and editorial teams to develop compelling content, programming concepts, and segment ideas. Ensure all content meets Scripps Sports standards for journalistic integrity, accuracy, professionalism, and quality. Conduct in-depth interviews with athletes, coaches, executives, and other key figures in the sports industry, both in-studio and remotely. Research interview subjects and develop thoughtful questions that generate meaningful and informative conversations. Engage with viewers through social media, live chats, audience outreach initiatives, and other interactive platforms. Promote upcoming broadcasts, special programming, and original content across multiple channels to strengthen audience engagement. Participate in live coverage of major sporting events when needed, providing on-location reporting, interviews, and analysis. Perform other duties as assigned. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, broadcasting, sports media, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent years of experience. Generally, 5+ years of experience in sports broadcasting, hosting, reporting, sports journalism, or a related field preferred. Experience hosting live broadcasts, conducting interviews, moderating discussions, and engaging audiences across multiple platforms. Experience with social media engagement and audience interaction. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional schedules based on sports programming requirements. WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Exceptional communication, interviewing, storytelling, and public speaking skills. Deep knowledge of sports, including current events, key players, teams, leagues, and historical context. Strong on-air presence with the ability to engage audiences and facilitate meaningful discussions. Ability to work under pressure and handle live broadcasting situations with professionalism and confidence. Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify compelling stories and discussion topics. Proficiency with broadcasting technology, production systems, and media software. Strong organizational and preparation skills with attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively with producers, analysts, writers, and production teams. Commitment to journalistic integrity, credibility, and accuracy. Ability to connect with audiences across television, streaming, digital, and social media platforms. Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages relevant to the sports covered by Scripps Sports, preferred.
