The Sustainment Lead will serve as a senior operational and sustainment leader responsible for enterprise-wide coordination, governance, and operational oversight of Electronic Health Record (EHR) sustainment activities within a complex federal healthcare environment. This role supports ongoing enterprise operations through oversight of Enterprise Resolution and Incident Response, Domain and Release Management, and Tenant Panel Management functions. The Sustainment Lead will be responsible for overall operational ownership and management of sustainment initiatives, focusing on enterprise stability, operational continuity, clinical safety, release coordination, issue resolution, and stakeholder engagement across healthcare operations and IT organizations. This position requires a proactive and solutions-oriented leader capable of managing complex enterprise-wide incidents, sustainment operations, governance activities, release schedules, and local site coordination while ensuring alignment with federal healthcare objectives and patient safety standards. The individual will apply advanced project management, operational leadership, and healthcare IT expertise to ensure workflows, incidents, risks, communications, releases, configurations, and operational priorities are effectively managed across the sustainment lifecycle. The role requires collaboration across clinical, operational, technical, vendor, and executive stakeholder groups to support enterprise-wide EHR functionality, optimization, stabilization, and continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties: Enterprise Resolution and Incident Response Oversee enterprise-wide response activities related to critical incidents, service interruptions, outages, degradation events, and user-generated support tickets impacting clinical and operational systems Lead triage coordination, issue resolution activities, root cause analysis efforts, and post-incident corrective action planning across clinical, operational, vendor, and technical teams Maintain and govern enterprise-wide issue tracking and change request logs, ensuring proper documentation, prioritization, categorization, escalation, and stakeholder communication Coordinate with EHR vendors, infrastructure teams, application teams, and clinical stakeholders to resolve escalated system defects, downtime events, workflow interruptions, and operational risks Ensure incident response and operational support activities align with ITIL-based service management frameworks and organizational governance processes Analyze operational trends, recurring incidents, and support metrics to identify systemic issues and recommend process improvement opportunities Facilitate operational review meetings, incident response sessions, and enterprise sustainment working groups to ensure accountability and resolution tracking Monitor operational risks and impacts to patient safety, clinical workflows, and enterprise operations while ensuring timely escalation and mitigation Support operational reporting, dashboards, and executive briefings utilizing tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL reporting, and enterprise reporting platforms Domain and Release Management Oversee configuration and build environments while managing lifecycle governance of EHR domain content from development through testing and production deployment Manage and coordinate enterprise release schedules, including major version upgrades, software patches, maintenance releases, build migrations, and enhancement deployments Collaborate with IT, clinical operations, testing teams, PMO Operations, and vendors to ensure successful release planning, deployment coordination, and operational readiness Ensure version control, testing rigor, deployment validation, rollback planning, and release governance processes are followed to minimize operational disruption and maintain patient safety Manage implementation timelines and sustainment activities associated with new EHR modules, integrations, enhancements, services, and site deployments Ensure adherence to domain governance standards, configuration management controls, and regulatory compliance requirements across all environments Coordinate release communications, downtime planning, deployment schedules, and stakeholder readiness activities across enterprise and local operational teams Validate release dependencies, sequencing, operational impacts, and resource requirements while ensuring alignment with enterprise strategic priorities Facilitate cross-functional release review discussions and deployment readiness meetings to support enterprise coordination and operational transparency Site-level Governance Support Partner with hospitals, clinics, operational leadership, and local stakeholders to support site-level EHR governance, engagement, optimization, and adoption efforts Oversee local configuration requests and workflow adaptations while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and patient safety objectives Coordinate governance activities between enterprise leadership, domain teams, and local clinical stakeholders to balance standardization with operational flexibility Manage and validate localized configuration changes, ensuring documentation, review, testing, approval, and implementation activities are completed appropriately Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions, feedback reviews, workflow discussions, and operational readiness activities to support diverse care delivery environments Support post-deployment stabilization, optimization initiatives, operational sustainment planning, and user adoption efforts Monitor local operational impacts, workflow effectiveness, and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for system optimization and process improvements Foster collaborative relationships with local clinical teams, operational leaders, and enterprise governance bodies to support long-term sustainment success Additional Leadership and Program Management Responsibilities Apply project management expertise to ensure workflows, risks, schedules, communications, resources, and operational priorities are effectively managed across sustainment initiatives Maintain relationships internally and externally with Federal Leads, healthcare leadership, clinical stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors Lead cross-functional operational meetings, governance reviews, release planning sessions, incident response discussions, and executive briefings Prepare and deliver operational status reports, executive summaries, risk assessments, and sustainment performance updates Ensure alignment between sustainment activities, Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), operational priorities, and organizational strategic objectives Support continuous improvement initiatives related to healthcare operations, EHR optimization, sustainment governance, and operational maturity Mentor junior staff and provide leadership guidance supporting operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, and sustainment best practices Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited institution Minimum 5 years of project management experience Minimum 5 years of Federal Government experience 7–10+ years of experience supporting EHR operations, sustainment, healthcare IT, clinical informatics, or healthcare systems implementation within large-scale healthcare environments Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-wide healthcare IT operations, incident response, release management, sustainment activities, and operational governance Proven experience working within government healthcare or federal contracting environments Experience supporting enterprise EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or equivalent healthcare systems experience with data analytics and reporting tools including Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and enterprise reporting platforms Knowledge of ITIL-aligned service management frameworks, incident management processes, and operational governance methodologies US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher government clearance Preferred Education and Experience Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field 7–10 years of hospital, clinic, or healthcare operational experience PMP, ITIL, SAFe Agile, or equivalent certifications Experience presenting to executive leadership, governance boards, and large stakeholder
