The Applied R&D Engineer 2 - SW role at Infinera India offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge feature development for the GX platform, a key component of Nokia's optical division. You will be responsible for planning technical requirements, managing product evolution through design and documentation, and contributing to improving product performance. This role involves collaboration with various vendors and cross-functional teams to integrate technologies and enhance product capabilities. Develop and debug complex features using expertise in C/C++, L2/L3 protocols, and debugging tools. Plan technical requirements, manage SW/HW build releases, and support product updates, gaining experience in release management. Assist in designing, developing, and testing hardware/software solutions tailored to customer needs, broadening skills in system design. Deepen understanding of kernel internals, general networking, and socket programming, with a focus on IPV4/IPV6 and L2/L3 routing. Collaborate with vendors to integrate SoC architecture, learning to troubleshoot and enhance third-party solutions. Gain exposure to Optical technologies, expanding skillset and adding value to knowledge of networking and telecom systems. Contribute to the planning and execution of product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs. Conduct thorough testing and validation of features and functionalities to ensure high-quality product releases. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customers and internal teams, ensuring a smooth user experience. BE/BTech or ME/MTech with 3+ years of relevant experience. Expertise in kernel internals, general networking, and socket programming. Previous work experience in IP networking or linux driver layer is essential. Thorough knowledge of networking concepts in L2/L3 protocols, VLAN/OSPP/GRE/RSTP/TCP/IP. Strong C/C++ programming skills, system understanding, and debugging abilities are required. Good oral and written communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to collaborate effectively. Experience in chassis-based router/switches is a plus. Understanding of different SoC architectures (32-bit, 64-bit) and toolchains is advantageous. Familiarity with Docker, JIRA, bit-bucket, and confluence is beneficial. Knowledge of yang/Netconf/restconf is an added advantage.
