You will work alongside highly skilled and passionate test engineering professionals who know how to deliver exceptional results while also having some fun along the way. For this role, you would be joining Dexcom’s Software R&D, Data Platform Test Engineering team. Where you come in: You will participate in building quality into backend services by designing automated tests, maintaining test coverage, and performing exploratory testing throughout the development lifecycle. You will collaborate with engineering teams during requirements and design discussions to drive testability and quality from the start. You will design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites—focusing primarily on backend APIs, cloud services, and distributed systems. You will create and maintain test plans, test reports, traceability documentation, and other verification/validation artifacts. You will record, triage, and track issues in defect-tracking systems, ensuring clear reproduction steps and test evidence. You will analyze test failures, identify root causes, and work closely with development teams to drive resolution. You will contribute to improvements in release processes, automation pipelines, and overall quality engineering practices. You will provide technical mentorship, guidance, and best practices to junior engineers and peers. What makes you successful: You have hands-on experience in software engineering or test development using Python, Java, or another object-oriented language. You have experience working with major cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS or Azure. You have strong experience using AI-powered development and testing tools to improve efficiency, generate testing, enhance debugging, and expand test coverage You have hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. You have knowledge of data processing or workflow orchestration tools (e.g., CloudRun, Airflow, Dataflow) is a plus. You have practical experience with SQL and/or NoSQL data stores. You have strong experience developing automated tests for RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend components. You are familiar with a variety of test automation frameworks (e.g., pytest, Robot Framework, JUnit, or similar). You have solid understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and backend service interactions in cloud environments. You have experience with automated UI testing is beneficial but not required. You have knowledge of distributed streaming platforms such as Kafka or PubSub is helpful. You have experience with performance or load testing tools is a plus. You have strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. You have experience with CI/CD systems and cloud-based deployment pipelines. You have experience working in Agile software development and test environments. You have the ability to work cross-functionally with developers, DevOps, product teams, and leadership to ensure product quality, performance, reliability, and security. You are a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
