Is this job info correct?

Job Description At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features. Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale. The Role The System Integration Validation Engineer (SIVE) supports end-to-end integration and validation of Power Moding and Vehicle State systems within Access and Security domain across programs, architecture variants, and global regions. This role owns validation readiness for assigned scope, including validation strategy, ADV plan content, execution planning, issue tracking, and evidence closure, to support functionality, performance, safety, quality, customer experience, and FMVSS compliance through launch. The SIVE builds system-level understanding of feature behavior, interfaces, variants, and failure modes; plans and executes analysis and testing across benches, HIL/SIL as applicable, virtual environments, and vehicles; and troubleshoots vehicle-level integration issues across hardware, software, calibration, networking, wiring, diagnostics, and system interactions. The role applies sound judgment within established procedures, handles standard and moderately complex issues independently, collaborates across functions to resolve non-routine problems, and communicates readiness, risks, and evidence clearly to support program objectives and launch success. What You'll Do 1. Requirement Translation & Test Intent Understand stakeholder needs, intended feature behavior, interfaces, and major interaction points for assigned scope. Translate feature or system intent into testable feature / function objectives and executable test cases. Decompose requirements into validation coverage that includes nominal behavior, key failure modes, diagnostics, and use-case variation. Refine test coverage and test intent as features, architectures, and regulations evolve. 2. Traceability & Evidence Management Develop and maintain ADV plans, change-management updates, and traceability to requirements, test cases, and evidence. Maintain traceability across DNG, ETM or equivalent test management tools, Jira / STS coverage, and results for assigned scope. Document anomalies, evidence, and evaluation outputs using approved GM tools and standard work. Keep evidence aligned to readiness and compliance needs, including audit-ready documentation expectations. 3. Integration & System Validation Execution Plan, schedule, and execute system- or feature-level tests for functional, environmental, performance, safety, and quality objectives. Verify feature functionality on benches, virtual environments, HIL / SIL as applicable, and vehicles across system variants. Conduct structured exploratory evaluations beyond line-by-line requirements to uncover interaction issues and real-world risks. Assist with regression and automation activities, including creating or updating ETM or equivalent test content, and supporting benchmarking and virtual validation as applicable. 4. Readiness, Compliance & Governance Maintain ADV plans, test status, evidence packages, and bi-directional traceability to requirements for assigned scope. Support ADV, PAR, DVUL, and MVSS readiness activities by preparing evidence and status inputs. Support evidence upload and review for self-certification, type-approval, Product Validation Letters, export regulatory certification, and compliance summaries as applicable. Clearly communicate readiness, risks, decisions, and open issues to technical stakeholders and leadership, escalating concerns when safety, quality, timing, or compliance targets are at risk. 5. Issue Triage, Closure & Launch Support Proactively identify, document, and drive closure of integration and validation issues for assigned scope. Perform preliminary root-cause analysis for PRTS, field, plant, or development issues and propose data-driven next steps. Coordinate with VDDV, DREs, software, calibration, suppliers, regulatory, plant, and launch / field teams to resolve issues and support launch. Recommend practical process improvements, lessons learned, and execution changes that improve validation quality, speed, and traceability. 6. Cross-functional Operating Model & Leadership Collaborate across systems engineering, safety, software, calibration, validation, suppliers, and release teams to support shared execution. Participate in integration workshops, issue triage meetings, and governance reviews, ensuring clear owners, actions, and timing. Provide closed-loop feedback on anomalies, integration pain points, and tool usage to improve the SIVE operating model. Demonstrate GM Behaviors and support role clarity for peers and junior team members. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer, Systems, or related discipline). 2+ years of relevant engineering experience in vehicle systems, validation, integration, testing, or closely related work. Foundational knowledge of vehicle systems, interfaces, and failure modes. Hands-on experience with system- or feature-level testing on benches and / or vehicles. Ability to plan and execute tests, capture results, and compare outcomes to requirements or acceptance criteria. Exposure to issue management and root-cause analysis. Ability to work under general guidance while exercising independent judgment on standard tasks. Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to collaborate across functions. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Systems, or related field). Experience in automotive system integration, validation, or feature / system testing. Experience owning an ADV plan or equivalent validation strategy for an assigned feature or system. Experience with HIL / SIL, virtual validation, regression testing, or automated test execution. Experience interpreting safety, regulatory, or compliance requirements and translating them into test plans and evidence expectations. Working knowledge of automotive networks and diagnostics such as CAN / LIN, DTCs, logs, or related tools. Experience with GM validation, requirements, and evidence-management tools. This includes direct company sponsorship, entry of GM as the immigration employer of record on a government form, and any work authorization requiring a written submission or other immigration support from the company (e.g., H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc). This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
