Tax Lawyer / Tax Consultant – Private Clients & International Tax

ABOUT THE ROLE

LVP Advogados is looking for a Tax Lawyer or Tax Consultant to join our Tax team in Lisbon.

We are looking for someone with solid practical experience in personal taxation and Private Clients, ideally with exposure to international clients and cross-border tax matters.

The role combines tax compliance and advisory work, with significant direct client contact and autonomy in managing matters. You will join a growing practice with a predominantly international client base and have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our Tax area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

• Advising private clients on Portuguese personal income tax matters;
• Assisting international clients with Portuguese tax obligations and cross-border tax matters;
• Preparing and reviewing personal income tax returns (IRS) and other tax compliance filings;
• Researching tax legislation and preparing tax opinions and technical advice;
• Supporting clients with tax registrations, regularisations and interactions with the Portuguese Tax Authorities;
• Advising on selected corporate tax matters, depending on experience;
• Managing client matters independently, ensuring deadlines and follow-ups are properly handled;
• Maintaining accurate client and matter information in the firm's CRM and internal systems;
• Using Artificial Intelligence and other legal and tax technology tools to support research, drafting, document analysis and day-to-day productivity, while applying appropriate professional judgement and confidentiality standards.

PROFILE

• Academic background in Law, Tax, Accounting, Economics, Management or a related field;
• Ideally, 3+ years of professional experience in Tax;
• Mandatory practical experience in the preparation and submission of Portuguese Personal Income Tax (IRS) returns;
• Relevant practical experience in personal income taxation and Private Clients;
• Experience with international clients or cross-border tax matters is highly valued;
• Experience with corporate taxation is an advantage;
• Fluent professional English, both written and spoken;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple matters and deadlines;
• Comfortable working autonomously and taking responsibility for client matters;
• Proactive, practical and client-oriented approach;
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work;
• Comfortable using digital tools and willing to incorporate AI into everyday professional workflows;
• Experience with CRM systems is valued.
