The Tax Specialist will work directly with Senior Tax Accountants and other members of the tax team. How You Will Add Value Prepare federal, state, and local individual income tax returns for high-net-worth clients, including Form 1040 and multi-state filings. Prepare and maintain supporting tax workpapers; reconcile source documents to the workpapers and tax return; and clearly document open items for review. Use CCH Scan and AutoFlow to organize tax documents and transfer information into CCH Axcess Tax, then review and clean up imported data for accuracy and completeness. Identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information and communicate routine document requests, status updates, and basic tax questions to clients and internal partners under senior oversight. Prepare estimated tax calculations, extensions, payment vouchers, and supporting schedules, and assist with the tax payment process. Maintain return tracking, monitor assigned deadlines, and coordinate workflow to help ensure returns and related deliverables are completed on time. Assist with tax notices, amended returns, and routine federal and state tax authority inquiries. Collate completed tax returns and supporting documents for client delivery and signature, and organize electronic tax documents and files. Assist with gift tax, partnership, and private foundation returns as assigned; prior exposure to these return types is a plus. Support other tax compliance projects and process-improvement initiatives as needed. What Will Help You Be Successful Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field. 2-4 years of tax preparation experience, preferably in public accounting, private client tax, or wealth management tax services. Experience preparing federal and state individual income tax returns; exposure to high-net-worth and multi-state returns is strongly preferred. Experience with gift tax, partnership, or private foundation returns is a plus. Experience with CCH Axcess Tax and CCH Scan is preferred. Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook. Strong analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills, with careful attention to detail. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to handle routine tax matters professionally with clients and internal partners. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work additional hours, including some weekends, during peak filing periods, generally from late February through mid-April and from September through mid-October. Work Schedule & Location: This role is based in New York, NY and operates under a hybrid working model, blending in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility.
