Hiring Group: Graduate Students Only Anticipated Start Date: ASAP Estimated Pay: $20.00 per hour ($1000 per section) Number of Jobs Available: 3 Schedule: Asynchronous online work can be completed any time in a given week Location: None (remote) Role Description: The English Language Institute seeks responsible, motivated, self-directed graduate students to serve as teaching assistants for an asynchronous online course in English Language Teaching Methods for the Fall session, 2026, with the possibility of continuing work in winter, spring, and summer 2027. TAs may support one or more sections of the course in each session, depending on qualifications and availability. Course Dates: Fall 2026: September 14 to November 30, 2026 (3 sections) Winter 2027: January 4 to March 22, 2027 (3 sections) Spring: March 30 to May 31, 2027 (3 sections) Summer: June 22 to September 3, 2027 (5 sections) Terms of employment: 50 hours per course (approx. 10-11 weeks) Average commitment 4.5-5 hours per week per sections Primary Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the course instructor and technical monitor (the ELI Director or Assistant Director), the TA will: update syllabi manage Canvas settings per program requirements grade routine assignments track late submissions respond to participant queries prepare draft reports assist with other course components by agreement with the instructor Qualifications: Current enrollment in a relevant UD graduate degree program, e.g. MA TESL, Education, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics/ESL, or World Language Pedagogy Relevant teaching experience as a student teacher working with multilingual/ESL/EFL students, or as a teacher or teaching assistant in ESL/EFL/Multilingual Learner programs in the US or elsewhere, or as a tutor for learners of English Experience using the Canvas learning management system as a student and/or instructor/TA Proficiency in written English Eligibility for Graduate Student Employment Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Delaware and be in good academic standing. In order to be considered for additional on-campus employment, applicants’ combined on-campus employment, including teaching, research and graduate assistantship, must not exceed 29.5 hours per week. Graduate students on contract may hold additional employment, on campus or off, up to 29.5 hours per week total without approval by the student’s program, the student’s advisor or the Graduate College. However, graduate students on contract are encouraged to discuss additional employment with their advisors to avoid any situations that might hinder timely progress toward the degree.
