Job Description - Team Lead, Compensation (55794) Job Description Team Lead, Compensation Job Number : 55794 Shape the evolution of compensation policy and deliver strategic solutions for the City of Edmonton. Reporting to the Senior Lead, Position Evaluation & Compensation, the Team Lead, Compensation is accountable for shaping and managing a modern compensation framework that supports the organization in achieving the corporation's compensation and employee experience objectives. This role serves as a primary contributor for compensation-related matters, contributing to the development and enhancement of the compensation design framework for the City of Edmonton, including all related policies and terms and conditions. The successful candidate will lead a team accountable for leveraging data, best practices, strong analytics, and a client-centered approach to deliver solutions that improve the effectiveness of the organization's compensation programs, market competitiveness, and internal equity. What will you do? Lead a small team that develops and administers the City's compensation framework, policies, and delivery, ensuring alignment with the City’s compensation philosophy and Canadian and Alberta pay equity principles Identify and analyze emerging compensation issues, prioritizing them in collaboration with client supervisors, Human Resources, and union partners to identify potential solutions Provide strategy, advice and expertise related to all compensation policy matters, including informing collective bargaining with the City’s Unions Ensure alignment with the Corporate Workforce Plan goals of attracting and retaining talent in collaboration with Recruitment Services Contribute to key corporate-wide initiatives for the Employee Services Branch with a compensation lens, such as the development of a new job architecture system and the implementation of the compensation module in the City of Edmonton’s new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system Develop and maintain sustainable compensation practices, policies, and guidelines, and efficient salary structures and pay plans Build internal leadership capacity by enabling and educating leaders to make informed work decisions that help advance organizational goals Leverage data and apply information tools to support the decision making process Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement Foster a collaborative partnership within Position Evaluation and Recruitment Services to ensure seamless alignment across compensation and classification initiatives, delivering integrated and strategic solutions that meet the complex needs of our clients Qualifications : Post-secondary education in Commerce, Human Resource Management, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Experience in a leadership role within a large, complex organization, including working in a multi-union environment and building strong, collaborative relationships with union representatives and staff at all levels In-depth understanding of and related experience in compensation practices and processes, including policy development and administration, market benchmarking, performance pay, classification, and job evaluation Assets: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or a related designation Skills required for success: Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Proven leadership in developing high-performance, results-oriented teams, combined with strong political acumen, conflict resolution skills, and the ability to build influential relationships across municipal and external partner landscapes Strategic Thinking & Decision Making: A systems-thinking approach with the ability to analyze complex, ambiguous information to develop strategic solutions and assess long-term organizational implications Project Management & Execution: Demonstrated expertise in project management and consulting, with a proven ability to develop and deliver business cases, strategic work plans, and professional presentations Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion Applicants may be tested Conditions of employment & work environment: Up to: 1 permanent full-time position Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday Salary: $108,838.80 - $136,046.09 (Annually) This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and office This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off) The City of Edmonton values applicants with a diverse range of skills, experiences and competencies, and encourages you to apply.
