About Direct Meds At Direct Meds, we prioritize care, trust, and solutions that focus on the individual. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, we are a fast-growing national team passionate about transforming the way people access the care they need. If you're driven by purpose and excited by growth, Direct Meds is the place to be. Technical Accounting Manager Remote (US) | Full-time | $135,000–$165,000 base + profit share opportunity Note: The base salary listed above represents a good-faith estimate of the minimum and maximum target for this position. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic location, job-related skills, experience, and education. About Direct Meds Direct Meds is a rapidly growing, privately held healthcare company providing technology-enabled telehealth, prescription medication, and pharmacy services directly to consumers. We operate in a dynamic, multi-entity environment with significant transaction volume and continued expansion into new products and services. We're a remote-first company investing heavily in institutional-grade finance, and this role is part of that foundation. Position Summary The Technical Accounting Manager supports the accuracy and integrity of Direct Meds' financial reporting and the appropriate application of U.S. GAAP. You will serve as the company's primary technical accounting resource, working closely with the CFO, finance leadership, operating teams, and external auditors. You'll initially report directly to the CFO, then to the VP of Corporate Accounting as that leader is seated, owning technical production end to end within priorities set by finance leadership. This is a role for someone who wants deep ownership of the technical craft at a company big enough to have real complexity and small enough that your work lands on the CFO's desk unfiltered. Key Responsibilities • Research and document complex accounting matters and prepare technical accounting memos for review and approval by finance leadership • Support the appropriate application of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) for subscription and telehealth arrangements, accruals, leases, equity and equity-based compensation, business combinations, and other complex transactions • Review significant and unusual transactions and advise finance leadership on the appropriate accounting treatment • Support acquisitions, new business arrangements, intercompany transactions, and other strategic initiatives from an accounting perspective • Support the monthly and annual financial close and the preparation of GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures • Prepare and deliver audit support: PBC items, audit-ready workpapers, and supporting schedules, coordinating day to day with the external audit team and managing technical accounting matters arising during audits • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, documentation, and internal controls across a multi-entity group (parent, pharmacy, telehealth, and shared-services entities) • Build complex-area schedules and estimates: chargeback and refund reserves, revenue cutoffs, and reconciliation of merchant-processor activity to the general ledger • Provide technical input to our ERP evaluation and implementation • Partner with our operational accounting team, who own daily transactions and month-end close, so technical positions translate into clean, repeatable entries First-Year Goals • Annual GAAP audit completed on schedule, with technical positions well documented and well supported • Documented revenue recognition memo set covering all product lines, approved by finance leadership • Intercompany and consolidation workpapers standing up cleanly every month • Draft accounting policy manual covering the group's core complex areas Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred • Approximately 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting; demonstrated ownership of ASC 606 positions preferred • Public accounting experience, preferably with a national or Big Four firm, strongly preferred • Experience with rapidly growing, multi-entity businesses is a plus; healthcare, pharmacy, DTC subscription, or e-commerce exposure is a plus • Strong analytical, research, documentation, and communication skills: comfortable creating workpapers, policies, and processes, and writing clearly enough that auditors, lenders, and non-accountants can follow your reasoning • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required Equipment Requirements To ensure a smooth transition, candidates are required to have the following equipment in place before joining the team: • A dependable personal desktop or laptop computer • Headphones suitable for video calls • Consistent access to high-speed internet Compensation and Benefits • $135,000–$165,000 base salary, set within the range based on experience and qualifications • Profit share opportunity: recent payouts for roles at this level have been approximately 4% of base salary, and actual awards vary with individual performance and the group's profitability • Fully remote (US) with flexible working hours; no travel required • Medical coverage and paid time off (accrued in your first year, flexible thereafter); 401(k) rollout planned Direct Meds is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
