Retention isn't a department at IM8. It is the model. The Opportunity We are looking for a Technical Lead, based in Hong Kong, to own the architecture and delivery of the platforms behind our DTC and subscription business: Shopify Plus at the core, our subscription engine (Skio), lifecycle marketing (Klaviyo), ERP (Microsoft Dynamics 365), and 3PL integrations across US, EU, UK and HK warehouses. You will set technical direction, lead a small, high-caliber team, and stay hands-on in the code that matters most. Your mandate: make sure what we ship is fast, reliable, and built to scale - every release, every customer, every market. What You'll Do Technical Ownership & Architecture Own the reliability of order, subscription, and inventory data flows across Shopify, ERP, and fulfillment partners, including scaling, monitoring, alerting, and failure recovery. Own end-to-end architecture and delivery for one or more product lines across web, subscription, and data. Make pragmatic build-vs-buy and system-design decisions that balance speed today with maintainability tomorrow. Own reliability, performance, and security across your services. Hands-On Delivery Stay in the code - review, unblock, and ship the hard parts yourself. Set and enforce the bar for code quality, testing, and CI/CD. Turn ambiguous product goals into shippable technical roadmaps. Team & Leadership Lead and mentor a team of engineers; raise the standard through how you build, not just what you say. Partner daily with product, design, growth, and ops to sequence what gets built and why. Recruit and grow the team as the business scales. Data, Reliability & Accountability Instrument what matters - uptime, latency, conversion, renewal - and use it to prioritise, not vibes. Partner with Growth on the marketing data foundation. Ensure clean, complete event and product data flows to ad platforms (server-side tracking, conversion APIs, catalog feeds). Own incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term prevention. Report clearly on delivery, risk, and technical health to leadership. What We're Looking For Non-Negotiable Delivery credentials. You have personally owned production systems at meaningful scale - or a clear, specific reason why that benchmark doesn't apply to your trajectory. If you can't make that case in a sentence, this isn't your role. Hands-on leadership. You have led or mentored engineers while still shipping code yourself. You are not a manager who stopped building. Full-stack depth. Strong across a modern web and cloud stack (e.g. TypeScript/Node, React, Python, AWS/GCP), with real system-design judgment. Consumer-scale experience. You have shipped consumer-facing or e-commerce products under real-world load. Data-driven. You drive decisions and accountability with metrics and instrumentation, not opinion. Builder mindset. Comfortable with ambiguity, fast decisions, and shaping the playbook rather than inheriting one. Communication. You align technical and non-technical stakeholders without friction. Shopify Plus depth. You have operated a high-volume Shopify Plus stack in production: checkout extensibility, app ecosystem architecture, multi-currency selling. Nice to Have Experience in health-tech, DTC, or subscription/e-commerce environments. Subscription platform experience (Skio, Recharge, or similar). Experience running structured experimentation programs: prioritizing and measuring tests and working with storefront developers who ship them. Experience building AI/ML-driven product features. You Must Be AI-Native Active, fluent daily AI tool usage is mandatory, not optional. We expect you to be embedding AI into every workflow you touch on day one.
