Technical Product Owner - E-commerce Magento

Technical Product Owner — E-commerce (Magento)

Baser · India (Remote)

Own the platform behind a Danish brand growing across five countries ☀️

Baser makes premium parasols/umbrellas — the kind engineered to stand up to real weather and last for years, sold direct to customers in Denmark, Germany, the UK, Australia and the US. We were founded by two people who thought outdoor parasols deserved better engineering than it was getting, and we've spent years proving that quietly, one market at a time.

We're growing fast, and our Magento platform is what makes that growth possible: five storefronts, one catalogue, and every order, delivery and customer conversation running through it. We're creating this role because the platform now deserves someone whose whole job it is.

What you'll own

The catalogue. A few hundred product variations across five country storefronts — so this is work about structure and accuracy rather than volume. You'll keep our product data correct as the range grows and new products launch each season, and you'll own whether every product page looks right in every market.

The platform. Magento configuration, storefront behaviour per country, and the standard for what "working properly" means. You'll be the person who decides when something is ready to go live.

The integrations. Our warehouse, our finance system, our carriers and our customer support tooling all talk to Magento. You'll define what data moves where, how often, and what happens when something doesn't arrive. Some of that you'll configure yourself; the parts that need code, you'll specify and hand to our development agency.

The development relationship. You'll be the single point of contact for our Magento agency — owning the ticket queue, writing the briefs, judging whether an estimate adds up, and making sure things finish.

And what comes next. We're rebuilding our storefront on Hyvä. We'll design it; you'll run the build through to launch.

How we work

We're a small team that gets a surprising amount done, and the reason is that we automate relentlessly. When something breaks, we fix it — and then we build the thing that stops it happening twice. Scripts, integrations, monitoring, AI tools: whatever the problem needs. It's the habit we value most in each other.

That's also why this is a hands-on role, and we mean that as a compliment. You'll be in the spreadsheet checking product data is right, and in Magento admin confirming a page renders correctly in any language. We think that matters, because the person doing the work is the one who knows what's worth automating. What we're looking for is someone who does it once properly, then makes it easier every time after.

Who we're looking for

Someone who has owned an e-commerce platform as their actual job, day after day, rather than as one of ten client projects. You know your way around Magento admin — not as a developer, but as someone who lives in it. You've had a webshop and a warehouse or finance system disagree about stock, and you were the one who worked out why.

You think like a business person first and speak enough tech to be dangerous: you know what an API is, you can scope an integration and brief a developer on it, and you're quick to first ask Claude to debug the issue prior to handing it to Dev. You're the kind of person who is genuinely bothered by messy data, and quietly delighted when you've made something run smoothly.

If you've built things in n8n, Zapier, Apps Script or Python, or you use AI tools seriously in your daily work, tell us. That's how we operate, and it's the fastest route into this role.

This isn't a coding job — our agency or Claude writes the code. It isn't marketing, and it isn't customer service. And it isn't client-juggling: one business, one platform, owned properly.

Working at Baser

We're spread across Europe and Asia, and we've built the kind of remote culture we'd want to work in ourselves. Hours are flexible and you organise your own day — we care about what gets finished, not when you were online. We work to a European rhythm, so there's real overlap with the rest of the team rather than messages left overnight. Once or twice a year we get everyone together in person, because some things are better in the same room.

You'll report directly to the founders and have genuine ownership from the first week. We're small enough that your decisions show up in the business quickly, and we'd rather back your judgement than manage it. We also try to be a good place to build a career so you can achieve the most important things in your life.

We treat our customers like friends and each other the same way. We move fast, we care about craft, and we're proud of what we're building.

How to apply

We don't review LinkedIn Easy Apply. Email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Technical Product Owner — [your name]" and include your CV, short answers to the two questions below, and your salary expectation.

1. Tell us about a time your online store showed different stock than your warehouse or finance system. What turned out to be causing it, how did you find it, and what did you ask your developers for?

2. Somebody on our team checks orders by hand every morning to spot problems. In six months, should he still be doing that? Tell us what you'd have built instead — and whether you'd build it yourself or brief someone else to.

3. Your salary expectation.

Applications that skip the questions or the salary line won't be reviewed. Following a clear brief is a big part of this role, so consider this the first step of it.
