This role will create and manage the SOP library, templates, process maps, guides, checklists and other knowledge products needed to support consistent technical reviews, applicant communications, quality assurance and audits. The Senior Technical Writer/Editor will work closely with subject matter experts to translate statutory, policy and operational requirements into clear, usable guidance for reviewers, program staff and stakeholders. The role will also edit recurring deliverables and maintain disciplined version control within the digital resource repository. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and information designer who can rapidly understand complex business processes, impose structure on evolving content and produce polished materials for both internal and external audiences. Primary Responsibilities Develop, edit and maintain SOPs, desk guides, process maps, templates, checklists, decision trees, reference materials and other program resources. Translate statutes, policies, Government direction and subject matter expert input into clear, concise and actionable operational guidance. Create and maintain a logically organized digital resource repository with naming conventions, metadata, version control and archival practices. Document end-to-end workflows for intake, technical review, clarification, quality assurance, audit and Government disposition activities. Edit technical review documents, monthly reports, communication products and audit materials for clarity, consistency, grammar and adherence to approved formats. Establish and maintain style guides, templates, controlled terminology and editorial standards for program deliverables. Facilitate content-development sessions with technical reviewers, auditors, QA staff and VA stakeholders and reconcile feedback into final products. Ensure that guidance and templates remain synchronized with current policy interpretations, process decisions and lessons learned. Design user-friendly job aids and quick-reference tools that reduce errors and accelerate onboarding and reviewer performance. Perform final quality checks to confirm accuracy, accessibility, usability and document integrity before publication. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical writing, public policy, business, healthcare administration or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of professional technical writing, editing, process documentation or knowledge-management experience. Demonstrated experience developing SOPs, manuals, guides, templates, process maps and other controlled operational documentation. Exceptional command of grammar, plain language, document structure and editorial quality control. Ability to interview subject matter experts, synthesize complex requirements and write for multiple audiences. Experience managing document versions, review cycles, comment resolution and publication workflows. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint; ability to create polished process visuals using Visio or comparable tools. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. Desired Qualifications Experience writing for VA, VHA or another federal agency. Experience documenting eligibility, compliance, audit, credentialing, recognition or case-management processes.
